Latest Version shuts down laptop

Recommended Posts

Ever since I've updated to the latest Publisher version, every time I try to edit and format a prose book, the program shuts down - and then shuts my laptop down. It works fine when it comes to picture books and just placing images down, but when I have to copy and paste text multiple text multiple times in the program it just shuts everything down completely.

I'm using Windows 10 and a Surface 3 laptop to run the program.

The process:

  • Open a file (150ish pages)
  • Create text blocks
  • Copy text from google docs to affinity publisher
  • Paste in the text blocks
  • Maybe able to do it 2-3 times
  • Everything shuts off

I checked the memory on my laptop and it says that everything is fine on that end. And this is the only file that I have trouble with. I'll pull up a document to create a comic book, and because it's just placing and sizing images, it never shuts off.

Hi Blubat, welcome to the forums

The Surface 3 seems really quite on the edge of -just- being able to run the software, for example it has only 4gb of ram, 2 of which are required to run windows barebones and 2gb required to run our software, this leaves very very little to anything else.

It may be worth disabling Hardware Acceleration, I can't find any information on the GPU but there's a reasonable chance this may be having an effect.   Edit>Preferences>Performance>Hardware Acceleration

Thanks!

I'll try this (and keep in mind the need for more RAM), in the mean time hopefully it works!
