Some of my chapter titles have italicized words. When I create a table of contents, the italics don't carry over. How do I make this happen?

Affinity's table of contents feature doesn't inherit the character styles or attributes applied the TOC entries like InDesign does so there's no way to do what you want automatically. I think this should be moved to the feature request part of the forum because it's a good feature request.

I have a similar issue with index entries but unlike with TOC formatting, even InDesign lacks a solution. I have index entries that should be superscripted, such as "15th Battalion" where the "th" is superscripted. Because index topics are typed into a text field, Affinity and InDesign both lack a way to superscript the text in the index entry. With InDesign people work around this by entering made-up formatting codes and then using a macro that updates the index and replaces the codes with superscript formatting. That's not possible in Affinity either due to the lack of macros, but you could presumably do it with GREP. I just have it on my list of final composition steps.

HI,

I came here because I have the same issue with italicized words in an article title not retaining their "italics" attribute in the TOC.  I'm using Affinity Publisher 2, and I'm wondering if Version 2 might have some sort of fix or workaround for this.

Thanks,

Ken
