Alberto Poli Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Goodmorning everyone, I am an old typographer who works in prepress and I do a lot of graphics and layout; I was born with QuarkXPress 3, switched to InDesign from version 1.5 and happy user of version CC2022. I bought the whole Affinity Suite hoping to leave Adobe and for some time I have been trying to understand the strengths and weaknesses of Publisher in order to work especially with files from InDesign. I really like Publisher, it has many features that I appreciate more than Adobe InDesign, the speed is miraculous, the integration with Photo & Designer is amazing but of course there are things that I struggle to understand. For example: why can't I select multiple colors on the palette so I can change the hue of them all at once? if the color must remain opaque even at 50% do I have to change them one at a time? and then: when I open a .pdf file [and open many with Publisher] to make small changes, is there a way [similar to Find / Change] to search for a color to replace and / or modify it? In some .pdfs, if I create a palette from the open document I find 50/100 colors on the palette, it becomes difficult to work like this, also because selecting the object in the palette does not show its color. In short, I find the color management a bit cumbersome. The translation of the software into Italian would need to be revised at some point, the translated font styles are horrible and misleading. I have other issues to resolve but first I want to look for solutions on my own. I ask forgiveness for my Googlese English but as you know we Italians are not very good at languages. bye_alb Quote
Alberto Poli Posted January 19, 2022 Author Posted January 19, 2022 one more thing… if I choose a Pantone color in the Swatches palette it does not appear with the proper name but as a Global Color… is this normal? do i have to name them all every time i create them? I am very perplexed. Quote
