Does Publisher include any way to handle repetition or templating?

Recommended Posts

I've been using Affinity software for a while now for photography and vector art, but I am now doing something outside of my skillset as a project for my wife.

I'm using Affinity Publisher to layout a year planner. This has a lot of pages which are repetitive. Some pages are calendars--which follow a template, but aren't exact copies of one another--while other pages might be lined for note taking, or bulleted for task lists, etc. and are nearly identical but might include a different heading ("January 01 - 07, Week 1" as a simple example).

For the template type pages (calendars), it seems like I need to create a calendar template, then copy it throughout the document, then modify it (change the month, change the layout of the days, etc.)--is there a better way?.

For the other pages, it seems like I need to design it and then copy it throughout the document.... But then if I want to make a change, I would need to delete all the pages, then modify the template, then copy the template to all the pages again. I think there is a way to design it in Designer or Publisher, then import it such that if I change the original design file, it changes all instances, but I'm not really sure.

I guess what I am asking is whether or not the Publisher software includes any tools to handle repetition or templating. Is there something I might be missing, or is it just a matter of doing the repetitive work manually? Any input would be helpful, because this isn't what I normally use the software for....

Adhoc I would say, that's what master pages usually are meant for, assigning different layouts to different document pages where needed. Also one can structure via different document files which when all merged together build the whole (similar like one would do it usually for book projects). - A running month/week/days filling could be done via data merge/import then.
