Creating even spacing between objects

Recommended Posts

Hi. What's the best approach to creating even spacing between objects?

Let's say I want to create something like this: VBg7Q2U.jpg

Now I use rectangle tool and position the lines myself but it's not very effective. Is there any predefined option that would allow me to create such grids so I wouldn't have to worry about even spacing?

Thanks,

Kacper

Welcome to the forums @kacper3355

There will be a number of ways to do what you want but the best way, in your situation, will depend on your situation.
For instance, you could duplicate a layer multiple times and use the Distribute functionality.
Or you could use the Power Duplicate functionality.
Or various other things.

Or you might be doing what you are doing the wrong way depending on what you want the result to be.
For instance, do you actually want three black rectangles or do you want to put stuff in the white areas and have black separations?
If you can give us more information about what you want as the end result then we can advise better.

Hi @GarryP

Thank you for your detailed reply! Actually I would love to put stuff in the white areas without black separations. Right now I keep black separations between objects (pictures / screenshots or anything else) because I have no idea how to "trim" images at an angle without them. Could you help me with that?

I’ve attached a quick and crude video showing you some techniques which might be useful.
If you can’t follow it then just say what you are having trouble with and someone can help further.
(If you want a colour between the images then add a coloured Rectangle behind the skewed shapes.)

Other techniques will be available and someone may show you more.
