Separating converted fonts

I have converted the word "item" to curves. I would like to further separate the "i" into it's 2 parts as I wish to manipulate the dot of the "i" differently to the rest of the letter. I cannot find a way of doing this, can you help me?

Welcome to the forums.
With the “i” selected, try menu “Layer → Geometry → Separate Curves”.
