I can't get the flood fill tool to work (steven)

I can't get the flood fill tool to work. It fills the required area but the selection is not indicated by marching ants. I've only recently started using Affinity but have previously used the tool without  issue. I've since attempted to make the selection on various images and reverted to the flood-select.jpg used to illustrate the tool in your work book without success.

The Flood Fill Tool can work without an existing selection and will not create a selection itself (it doesn’t create the marching ants).
If you want to create a selection that you want the Flood Fill Tool to use then you will need to make a selection in some other way first (maybe with one of the Selection Tools).

P.S. I don’t have the Work Book so I don’t know what it says.
