Can't update from 1.7 to 1.8.1 on Mojave

Hi all,

when using the update function it just never finishes unpacking, now I deleted 1.7 from my mac in order to download the latest version directly from the website but it doesn't work. Ater unpacking it says the package is corrupted and recemoneded to be move to the trash. Any suggestions on how to get it running again?
