Scene24
I have Affinity Photo (1.7.3) and have recently bought Affinity Designer (1.7.3). Both running on iMac (OS 10.13.6 - latest compatible for older iMac). The layers panel is not working properly in Affinity Designer (works fine in Affinity Photo). No matter what I've tried I cannot manipulate or drag the objects or layers in the Designer Layers Panel. I've tried creating new files, new layers, new objects, restarting Designer, etc. I've tried locking and unlocking layers, unlocking all layers from the Layers menu and from within the Layers Panel. I've viewed the online instructions, tutorials, videos, etc. There is no mention of this problem and no apparent solution. Anybody else experienced this or found a solution? Thanks so much. GarryP
I’ve never seen this before but it sounds like it could be something that should be easily remedied. Would it be possible for you to attach a full-screen screencast (with the Layers Panel visible) so we can see the problem in inaction? Scene24
Thank you for your reply, GarryP. I was about to attempt a full-screen screencast, as you suggested, but then I decided to try one more thing. I quit Designer and then restarted it, then opened a sample Designer file from the opening splash screen. The layers worked fine on that file. So I then opened a new blank file, added a few objects on different layers, and tried manipulating those objects and layers and, lo and behold, everything is working fine. The strange thing is I had quit Designer and tried to open or create new files multiple times before but the behaviour had not resolved. And yet for some reason, the glitch seems to have disappeared this time (and with other new files since then). I have no idea what caused the Layers Panel problem before, but at least it's now working. Thanks again for your attention to this question. GarryP
You’re welcome. I’m glad you’re off and running now but I’m still wondering what caused the problem in the first place. If you had it then other people might get it in the future. If it happens again please try and record a screen-cast before restarting the application so there’s a record of it.
