This feels a little like looking a gift horse in the mouth. The ability to scale between CAD and Affinity is enormously helpful for me. I have noticed that copying and pasting elements from one drawing to another doesn't always retain scale. I have a theory that a drawing of a 100m object might paste from an A1 drawing to 50% scale onto an A3 document, suggeting the scale feature is relative to page size. Highlighting this in case it's a bug. In realtity the work round is easy enough, just linking the x and y ratio in the transform tool and editing the width of the object to a known length after pasting it in, but getting rid of the bug (if it is one) would be amazing.

Thank you so much. Tested and working. That is fantastic. A software company that listens to its users. How refreshing.

Thank you so much. Really hoping this makes it into the next update as it stops me drawing on the ipad. Thanks for listening...

Yes, I have tried several key combos on the ipad keyboard (smart folio type) and none work.

iOS Designer 2.3 Ipad 11" Pro Deselect button on the screen works, but the deslect key command shortcut doesn't. This was a problem in 2.2 as well. Please sort this. It stops me vector drawing on the iPad. Which is a shame as that's why I bought it.

I am a Designer user for Mac, PC and more recently iPad. I also use AutoCAD, which has trained me in the use of the escape key while drawing. Essentially, escape to deslect is a fundamental part of my workflow, as I am sure is the case for many. The iPad keyboard has a globe key that can be programmed to enter the escape command. It works, as the shortcut page allows the globe key to enter the UIKeyInputEscape, but in the vector environment the key has no effect on a selected vector. Is this a bug, or a feature that hasn't been activatred yet? It's driving me crazy.

Change the designer file and update the publisher file and you will see the problem! :-) -
Publisher Updating Designer Assets
James Galpin replied to James Galpin's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Thanks for this. I have uploaded the files. All images within the publisher report come from the same designer graphic. -
Dimitarsp I have found that if I copy an placed asset and double click to edit the layers, the layer changes will affect the copy and the original. So to avoid this, I place a fresh instance of the graphic for each view. This works fine. Each 'place' can be edited differently in terms of layer view. But, if you make a change to the original designer file all the placed graphics will reset back to the saved state of the layers in the designer file, which is a question I have opened on the forum.

I am an architect and use Designer for site analysis graphics, amongst many other uses. The graphics tend to be built up using many layers, each of which has a unique bit of data. I then bring the graphic into publisher and select which layers I want to show. Two things: I have found that if I copy an placed asset and double click to edit the layers, the layer changes will affect the copy and the original. So to avoid this, I place a fresh instance of the graphic for each view. This works fine. Until... If I make a change to the original designer file, the resource manager quite helpfully tells me to update the content in the publisher file. But... every instance of the placed graphic then gets reset to the same layer settings, so I have to go through the whole report, resetting all the layer structures. Is there a way of the placed asset remembering the layer settings? If not, can I please request this as a tweak to the next iteration of Publisher? Many thanks.

This may not be a bug, but a limitation of the software. I am an architect and use Designer for site analysis graphics, amongst many other uses. No symbol panel in 1.7.0.249 (Mac)

No symbol palette option for me either. Windows and Mac English. I used this quite a lot previously, but it was a risky feature, particularly in conjunction with populated master pages. -
Symbol Sync
James Galpin replied to James Galpin's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Accept that, but I also find it when I copy a page by duplicating. Why would you have a master page that contains no assets? Or is that simply something that's not ready to use yet in the software? Forgive my impatience. :-) -
I find that every time I close Publisher and reopen the Symbol Sync becomes activated again. I tend to work on documents with master pages and duplicated pages and I get caught out when the symbol sync is on as edits to one page are duplicated. A powerful feature, but I feel this should be OFF by default, rather than ON. Is there a way of switching it off 'application-wide' rather than for each session? Fabulous app, by the way. I'm loving using it.

page numbering
James Galpin replied to Peterbear's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
On InDesign I have done this with a master and sub-master arrangement, where the master is based upon a sub-master that contained only the page number. I don't think you can do that on Publisher? -
Table of Contents
James Galpin replied to James Galpin's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on Windows threads
Anyone else experienced this? -
I have found when I add a new page from a master the TOC menu is greyed out so I can't choose a text style to activate the TOC population. If I add a fresh page (not based on a master) the TOC attributes are fully visible and selectable. Is this a bug or is there a tick box or variable that I haven't noticed?
