This is a bug. I have a similar workflow. With Designer I have several elements (drawings, illustrations) in different artboards. I place it in Publisher (that is set to PREFER LINKED), that way I can edit the .afdesign (that already has a fixed number of artboards, let's assume 15.). Everything works perfectly until at some point, when opening the publisher .afpub file, everything resets to Artboard1 (or any artboard positioned at the base of the .afdesign layer stack, regardless of the name). The .afpub and .afdesign are in the same folder. no cloud here It seems that the bug happens when I change something in the .afdesign (even though I'm not creating or deleting artboards). Just by changing the file, changing colors, drawing something different and saving. When opening the .afpub file at some point, everything resets to "Artboard1". A lot of work to set the correct artboards again.....😵‍💫 I can guarantee that it's a bug because I've used this workflow several times, at least with version 1.X and that never happened. Now this is the first time I work this way with version 2.x. Yes, unfortunately it is bugged 🐞 😔

So, these crashes have been happening in different (new and old) documents. The hardware acceleration is enabled. It just happens, a freeze, the software stops responding, I wait but it never responds. So when I click on the window the Windows warning pop-up (the software is not responding, it wants to wait.... bla bla bla) so I close and open it again. I can work on a document for 10min and a standard action like moving something or clicking on a layer causes it to freeze which results in a crash. Or I can work for 30min, 1h, 2h without problems, until suddenly it happens.... any action, anything at all can trigger it, even selecting an object may trigger the freeze. Sometimes I work from start to finish and nothing happens, it's completely random, but frequent. 2.0 Vanilla (unpatched) did not have this problem, I think it started from the first patch. I still have 1.0 installed, the freeze/crash does not happen there. My System I can't find the Designer 2 crash report location, the only one available here is 1.0. nor can I find information on the location of the 2.0 report

So, this is an old problem, I've seen explanations full of words saying it's the operating system issue and bla bla bla. The problem is with the way they affinity softwares handle what is pasted from the clipboard. Attached is a video where I paint something on a layer in Krita and then paste the content of the layer in Inkscape, Clip Studio Paint, Rebelle 5 and finally in Designer 2.0 (Don't mind the video quality, I recorded it using ShareX and it was encoded to have a small file) image_transparency_past_clipboard_to_affinity.mp4 A screen of the result with Affinity software if you can't watch the video.

Thanks for the answer. Good to know that it's something that will be fixed (I hope soon) because I have to constantly pause updates to prevent uninstalled ones from installing again.

Title This is a KNOWN ISSUE...... but it's getting old So far nothing has been done by serif, other than recommending the uninstall of system updates. Is it impossible to release a fix for the issue so that it is not necessary to uninstall updates?? Is it possible to make the software work on an updated system?

As you can see in the image below, the PANTONE palette appears to be presented in RGB with a limited gamut range, something that would and is expected in CMYK. In CMYK, PANTONE colors are basically the same in any color profile. But for some reason the same colors in RGB have a shift Is that intentional? a bug? Can't RGB display almost the entire CMYK gamut?

If they release V2 with everything that is current in V1 plus the features that have always been requested here on the forums, then it won't be a problem. It's been many years since V1 was released, If some expected features haven't been released until now after so many years, maybe it's a lack of interest in releasing them or difficulty implementing certain things in the current version or because it must be hard to add more and more without getting paid for it. For those who have just bought 1.0, it may be scary or weird to talk about a 2.0, but for those who have been using 1.0, 1.X for 5, 8 years and feel stagnant with the lack of features, depending on other software for things like curve/bend/warp text/tool, shape build, knife tool, vector eraser, bitmap trace.... 2.0 with these features is more than welcome. I think what everyone wants is to be able to use Affinity software as a main tool, without relying on other software for those missing things. If in 8 years none of this has been implemented, what is the chance of getting all these features now without paying for it? I'm ready to pay for a new version that has everything the current version has, plus everything that users have been requesting for years. From that point on, we will have another cycle of years with another features being added little by little. Yes, bugfixes may continue to be released for V1 even after V2 is released.

It's been what, 8 years since Designer was released? I'm ready to pay for a new version of all software as soon as they start selling it

This suggestion is basically a copy of what we have with Assets (subcategory) but working for the color palette. Imagine a big project, illustration with several characters, scenes with various elements and so on. The color group option makes it easy to organize colors by characters, elements, accessories or whatever you're doing, without having to create a new palette for each one. You can have the CHARACTERS palette, and within this palette have the characters colors separated into groups. In fact, as I explained the document seems to change itself whenever I make a change, and save the main doc or the linked files. The linked files may change to embedded, I believe it happen after a save. I only notice after closing the document, and opening it again on another occasion. So it's hard to know if there's anything triggering it, besides saving, since everything happens silently in the background. It only shows up after I open the file again, and everything looks random. Sometimes everything is normal, sometimes all invisible, sometimes some visible and others with "glitch" (gradient bar). When I replace through "resource manager" I notice that some have become embedded and they are still invisible, so I have to "make linked..." and replace the file to fix it.

If this information is needed, here is my render settings. I've tested with the hardware acceleration turned on and off, same result every time. I'm on Windows 10 (updated), all drivers also updated

Done The main doc here is set to "Image placement policy: prefer linked" but I noticed that sometimes the resource manager shows the linked docs as embedded and I have to make linked again. Whenever I save the main document and/or make changes to the linked docs, something seems to mess up everything. I'm only using .afdesign files

So I have a document with some elements linked, .afdesign files. When I link the file, everything works fine, they showup in the layers stack, they are visible on the canvas and I can manipulate without problems. If i save the "main" doc with the links and open it again, most of the linked .afdesign documents become invisible, and I need to "Replace Document" to make them showup again during this session. If the main document is closed (after saving) and opened again, the links may be invisible again, and I need to repeat the process. This behavior started after version 1.10. embeds have no problems, but with linked .afdesign files this problem happens often.

I typed in my first post here. here a screen attached Edit 1: Working in a document with basic grid (no grid at all) nothing happens. If I work with the isometric grid, edit in plane, and snap enabled, at some point it crashes. It may have something to do with snap and/or the grid Edit 2: A new windows update appeared ( 20H2 ). I will install this update and see if the problem goes away. Edit 3: After the windows update 20H2 I'm using Design for for several hours and no crash, even doing heavy things with several artworks and other software running in background

Thanks for the answer So, the crash is not happening with the same document. When Designer crash, it saves a "backup" but with those crashes that restart the computer, there is no option to restore the last session. I remember crashing once when I tried to move a layer up, and when I placed the second point of a line using the pen tool, it is not just boolean. As I said before, it's random. the computer freezes for a few seconds, the mouse stops working, the keyboard does not respond, and then the machine restarts. This happened several times, each time in a new document. As suggested in this thread, I turned off the hardware acceleration. When I had the first crash that restarted my computer a few days ago, the first thing I did was to look for similar cases of crash and I have been following this thread. I'll try the beta build to see if it works. I particularly think that my problem was caused by the windows update (it was an update that restarted the computer and stayed a long time installing everything), it was the only different thing that happened on the computer.

Out of nowhere Designer started to have constant crashes, causing the computer to restart. Until about 5 days ago everything was normal and I was working with heavy and complex documents. After the last windows update (Windows 10 pro - OS Build 19041.928), Designer crashes randomly, sometimes placing a dot on the canvas or moving a layer on the stack, or doing other basic things. There is no specific trigger, none that i can point out for sure because it is random. The only difference is that I’m currently working with isometric grid, doing isometric things. Just now, I had 4 crashes in a row (that restarted the computer) but I only have 2 reports in the folder. I don't know if they are grouped by date in the same file, or if the crash is so violent that there is no time to save a report. The reports are attached The only software that is causing pc crash is Designer (I haven't tested the photo or publisher yet) even when it is running alone after a fresh restart (or after returning from the previous crash), without other software or non-microsoft services in background. In comparison, doing a giant painting on Krita for hours, rendering huge scenes in Blender or using Godot for hours does not trigger any crash. If I close everything and try to use designer it will crash now. Even if I restart the computer as I said before. I haven't installed any software or drivers in the past few weeks, just the windows update about 5 or 6 days ago reports.zip Log.txt
