We have attempted previously to contact OneDrive to help them resolve this issue, however this has been to no avail.

These other file formats work because OneDrive have done extra 'background' work to ensure the previews are shown correctly - as I don't work for the OneDrive team I can't be more specific here, but whatever change needs to be made has to be done on OneDrives side - hence we at Affinity have no further control here.

Unfortunately there's only so much that can be done with the Affinity file format within Affinitys coding, and as these thumbnails show in regular Windows Explorer, Finder (on Mac) and other DAM applications (such as XnView MP, NeoFinder etc), this confirms we are correctly writing the thumbnail to the file and support past this point is dependent on the third party (in your case OneDrive).

I hope this clears things up :)

Affinity - The massive user base leaning on One Drive for business needs to be taken more seriously than the response "Unfortunately there's only so much that can be done with the Affinity file format within Affinitys coding..."  Keep trying! This is just not an acceptable answer.  The missing thumbnails are now a massive hurdle in using your products, and for the first time I am considering switching to a different product for all of our graphic design. The lack of thumbnails presents an HOURLY hurdle and slowdown for our team that needs to be opening files for printing labels, graphics, and quickly communicating with customers. No good. Please take this issue as the priority it is.

  2. Hi There -  Please will you provide instructions to get Thumbnails working for Affinity Designer 2.2.0 with Onedrive, Windows 11?  I have tried to apply instructions posted by others, but I can't get thumbnails to work. It really doesn't seem like there is a solution, but I'd like to hear from the source. It simply makes opening graphic files a total drag.  Please help!

  3. Hi!  Brand new to photo.  Just loaded, and am attempting to "open" .jpg photo files.  However, every image opens small with a large transparent checkered background instead of opening as a full sized image like the tutorial shows it should.  When editing, the images, they become large (filling in the space), then snap back to small, and are highly scrambled.  It just doesn't seem right!  Is this a bug?  Windows 10 is what I'm using.   Thank you for your help!
