I'm having exactly the same problem with greyscale scans saved as TIFF files from a Nikon scanner. Has there been any solution published?

There is no direct keyboard shortcut to the in-painting tool; it takes several presses of the J key to get there. Perhaps Serif would make the in-painting tool the default for the J key, if others agree.
