and the verdict is: the updates via App Store hadn't been completed. after the update all works fine! thanks for thinking with me guys!

Thanks! am I sure... well, would say yes, but you make me doubt. Checked the update in the App Store app. no updates for AFdesigner or AFphoto. When searching for the apps in the store, the displays an open button... clicking the button results in INSTALLING something... it also kind of freezes the app store... let me see to that first. thanks for the hint (Designer is on 1.5.x, photo 1,6,7)

My girlfriend has files she created on AFdesigner on windows 10 she now works on my computer with MAC High Sierra. The Affinity programs are uptodate. but AF designer will not open the the files! AF Photo, on the other hand does open them! Weird? bug? right place to post this problem?
