Hoping this gets fixed in the 2.5 beta cycle. My book is almost ready to print, but the layout is messed up all over the place due to this bug. What is especially annoying is that images need to be placed in the wrong places just to get text to flow to the bottom of the page. Not doing so pushes off the text to the next page, and really messes things up, but not being able to position images properly looks really bad. Besides messing up the book, it's messing with my OCD. I would greatly appreciate it if you could bump this with the developers @Patrick Connor.

Could be, I think. I just copied the whole folder with both sets.

I just moved to a new computer, and I opened my Publisher with one of the fonts I used missing. It wasnt an important font so I tried to select a replacement on the screen that showed me the fonts. However, each time I tried to select a specific weight of a typeface, it would choose a different weight. The font I was replacing with was Montserrat.

I noticed almost all the recently fixed bugs have 4 digits in their bug numbers. Is this bug the oldest one still not fixed? I've just printed my first review copies of my book, but there are still several pages that cannot be laid out correctly, leaving lots of blank space on pages, and forcing me to add pages to make up for the text getting pushed. I would think a bug that forces layout to be incorrect would have a high priority. I really hope this gets fixed soon.

I know this is a bit obscure, but I would appreciate it if when searching text, that ligatures like œ and æ show results as if they were oe and ae (and visa versa). I suppose there could be options so if I really only want the results that have the actual ligature, then that could be possible, but I think in most cases when searching I'd want all the results. Maybe color the ligature differently in the search results if it wouldn't have been found in a straight search. I'm sure there are some other similar ligatures, especially if you start looking at other languages and alphabets. I can think of a few in Hebrew, but as Affinity doesn't yet support RTL languages, I guess that's a moot point.

I'd like to suggest being able to differentiate search results that appear in notes from those that appear in the main text of a document in Publisher. Maybe just an asterisk next to the result or something similar. This would save time when you're looking for results in the text, and don't care about results that were added in footnotes. In the same way, I'd like to suggest that it be possible to show which output index items are in notes instead of in the main text. In this case I'd like to be able to specify how it is displayed. One example is an asterisk before the page number/range, another might be a superscript f to the right of the page number/range.

Right now it seems that when Publisher groups page ranges in the Index, it cuts off the range at the end of a Section. I'd like to suggest allowing the cut off to be by Story or by Document as well. This allows much more flexibility. Sections can be used for various purposes, not all that map appropriately to index page groupings. For example, in the book I'm working on now I'm using Section titles to fill in the header text on the page. So while in a chapter, if the header changes (which it sometimes does on every page in a chapter), the index page grouping gets broken up and the pages get shown individually instead of being grouped. This looks very sloppy in the index.

Publisher Index grouped page ranges
philipt18 replied to philipt18's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
Either way, Publisher should allow groups to be based on the whole document instead of sections. They should limit the usage like that. The output, like above, shouldn't be possible. -
Yeah, I think both colors should be able to be set by the user. For the selection color I think frankly it should take it from the system setting, at least on the Mac where I know you can set it, although if Serif wants me to set it in Settings, I'm okay with that too. And Search results definitely need to be able to be a brighter color.

Publisher Index grouped page ranges

Mike, I think you were the one who got me to use sections to determine the header text. So I blame you. 🙂 -
Publisher Index grouped page ranges
philipt18 replied to philipt18's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
I use sections for page headers, and this book has different headers almost every page. Why would Publisher link indexing to sections? That doesn't seem to match the intention of page groups in an index. This should be considered a bug. -
This shouldn't be possible, right? First, there's a range of two pages. I thought ranges had to have a minimum of three pages? Second, the following 6 pages are not included in the range. If Group page ranges is on, then it should read '133-140, 391', right? How is it possible that some pages are groups and others are not?

Searching for a specific word
philipt18 replied to philipt18's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
One downside of this feature is that I someone put explanations in parenthesis after my index topics, and this feature obviolusly doesnt work in that case. I need to remove that, do the search, then put it back. It might be nice to have an index topic, and a 'Display as' field to allow you to modify how it's displayed. -

I forgot about that one, thanks. Interestingly that search finds words with footnotes after them, while the main search does not. -
Searching for a specific word

If you're trying to search the text so you can add instances to the index, then searching in the index doesn't help you. -
Footnote numbers should be ignored in search
philipt18 replied to philipt18's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
Another scenario, which is similar, is searching for the word followed by a space. Even if there is a space after the word, if there is a footnote, the word isn't found.
