  1. Could DXF export be added as a export option. I sometimes have have to send my designs to a CNC and vinyl cutting shop. There preferred format is DXF. It would be great not to have to import my design into cad program before sending it them. I currently use this feature in illustrator and it works nicely.
  2. When I am editing a photo within publisher, I am getting a sandbox error in the resource manager when I re-save the image after making changes. I am clicking the "Edit Image" button to bring the placed image in its own window to edit. I would expect the resource manage to show that is modified, but not missing that I have to relink. The image I am editing contains a vector mask that I am adjusting. The image is being saved out as an Affinity Tiff file with layers. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. What causes this? How can I avoid this happening when editing images?
  3. I would like to suggest a feature to lock individual guides via the Guide Manager. This is a feature in Indesign that we utilize in our group layout process that we would like to see carried forward into Publisher. In a our workgroup of 20 graphic artist, copies writers, and layout team, it important to use to have guides that can not be moved. These guides to hold boundaries that are outside the constraints of our press margins. This ability would be most helpful.
  4. Is there any way to sync the color profiles between all the affinity apps? We have 20 seats in our office that need the color profiles prefs to be consistent throughout all the affinity apps. In Adobe Bridge we can set it up in bridge and all colors settings are set for all the adobe suite apps. Is there any way of doing this in the Affinity Suite of apps? Doing this makes the it easy for all the apps to be centrally controlled, maintained, and ensures the color profiles are consistent throughout the workflow. Setting them up individually makes room for something to be mismanaged or a setting being missed. This can be be catastrophic if somehow the wrong profile is used on one of our files when going to press. Is there a way to set up color prefs that transcends the other apps from affinity? Maybe I am overthinking this but, would someone tells me how this works when using studio link with different color settings?

    Guide Lock

Thank you for this tip. Applying those guides to a master and locking that layers is a workable solution. This is something that we can definitely work with until lockable guides are implemented. We have set up different masters fitting different page templates. While I still think having the ability of locking a guide via guide manager is the best solution, locking the master layer is the only workable solution so far.

    Guide Lock

That would work as well. The option to lock all or nothing is a bit limiting to what one may what to utilize the guides in their workflow. Especially then guides are used to set up pages templates or page layout markers. One example on how we use our guides in our catalog, our copy boxes are offset .25 from the page margin on the gutter side to page. Images are either pull to the gutter or set to the margin depending on the layout. This offset distance for copy blocks kept by a guide at that set distance. We lock that guide in place so our layout department does not overstep that distance. Locking those guides assures no one bumps the copy outside that range when piecing the page together.
  7. Why when I place a vector object over another object with the blending mode is set to erase I can still see the online of the object underneath? The edge of the circle is still visible when the rectangle is being used as a vector mask and set to erase. This happens also to the edge of photos as well when I select this type of blending mode. I thought it may be a screen artifact, but it prints as well.

    Erase Blend Mode Shows Edges

I've marked with arrows to point out the line from the underlying circle that is showing up when erase is applied. I see from your example how to achieve the mask. Thank you for the explanation. But why would the underlying edge showing if erase is selected. Seems like a bug to me.
  9. Moving Curve onto the image layer is a 100% repeatable crash. I've tried different files and different documents with the same result. PubCrash.mp4

    SandBox Error

Lol. I think I am getting my thread confused with my crash issue... But somehow I think they are somehow related. The sandbox issue is not always related to the app crashing. But to keep things straight I will post this here too. Restarting the app after getting the a sandbox error looks to fix the issue after clicking the "Globally Authorize" the permissions. Ill do more testing on this al well.

    Layer Crash

I don't think this is related to the crash I am getting. Publisher just seems to not like placing that vector mask on the images. While I had said that it is 100% reproducible, I have had some success placing me a mask on top of the image.... but it is still an a major issue.

    Layer Crash

I have another user in the office is experiencing the same kind of errors on different Mac working other publisher files with different image resources. So, I don't think it is related to a corrupt file. However, I did get this message after reopening the spread after a crash. Maybe this global fix will resolve this. Initially the spread came back with blurry unlinked images with a sandbox error. I Clicked the "Authorize Global" and had to close out of the spread and reopening and everything looked good. I will do more testing to see if this fixed the problem.

    Layer Crash

The brown gradient color is my computer wallpaper. The crash quits the program entirely and returns me to my desktop. Black screen you see is indeed my movie edit that applied the text.

    SandBox Error

I also get the sandbox error on all my image after the app crashes. I have ran into a bug that crashes the app when applying vector masks (I have already reported). Once the app crashes, all the images come back blurry and unlinked with sandbox error. I have to manually replace all the image after a crash. Not good.
  15. I am working on an Photoshop Tiff file the contained a saved selection channel. When I open it up in Affinity Photo the saved selection comes in as a Background Alpha. I right click on it to fill channel. What I get is a white boarder at the edges of the selection. This is not present when looking at it in photoshop. Any idea how to fix this or is this a bug on how the AP read the PS tiff alpha? I can supply the tiff file if that would help.

    SandBox Error

Thomaso So....my problems lies within the Mac OS itself not giving publisher permission to access the file through the sandbox? Would it be fair to say that publisher would not have this error if I had bought it direct from the affinity store?

    SandBox Error

I too get a the message that the image has been modified outside publisher and that I need to update the image. When I go to the resource manager the update button is not available with the sandbox error in the status.

    Alpha Fill from saved channel

Hello MEB. I've uploaded the file. Please let me know what you find. Thank you
  19. We are going to through the process of figuring out how to transition from PS to AP. We are a catalog company that have a few thousand images that ave clipping paths saved inside the PSD or tiff files that we use in Indesign as silhouettes images. Basically the path is used as a mask that Indesign recognizes. These curves remain live so they are editable for edge refinement and repositioning. Am I clear in the understanding there is no way for curves to make the leap from PS to AP? The forum thread I found that talked about this issue was from 2016. I didn't know if the status of this has changed. I did try the shape layer approach, but this still does not leave me with curves. They PS shape layer comes in as a color fill. Maybe my approach was wrong. The color fill would work if I was able to turn my selection into curves, but I know that is not currently possible. As a side note: Affinity photo is able to turn curves into selections, but can not turn a selection into a curve. I always thought that was strange. I know auto trace...its on the roadmap.... Recreating all of those paths in all those files is not a real viable or cost effective solution for us. I am open to any workflow suggestions anyone can offer.
  20. Thank you MEB for the quick reply. Yes, Clipping path to vector mask is something I can totally automate within PS to save out a file that I can use in the AP. Thank you for that solution. That will totally work..Awesome! We don't typically use vector masks within our spreads because indesign does not call for it when masking out a background. We just use the clipping path. I guess Adobe has made us lazy in that respect. Actually adding a vector mask makes the file more useful rather than relying on the inner-workings between PS and ID. In the long run the vector mask is a better workflow. Great example of how Adobe's workflow differs from Affinity's better approach to get same desired result. Thanks.
  21. Recognizing multiple saved channel something Apub and Aphoto does not recognize. Ive ask about this fix on multiple occasions. Apparently it on the bug list, but have not seen any progress. Hopefully this will be fixed. We same our extra channels on Tiff formatted images.

    Multiple Mask Layers

Just checking in to see if this issue will be addressed in the current Photo beta? So far I have not seen any changes in this area. I am still hopeful this will be addressed before the release of Publisher.
  23. Publisher should allow to choose the mask layer you are wanting to use when image contains multiple masks within an image. Currently all mask layers are combined when placing an image. The work around is to export a new image with unwanted mask layers turned off. Exporting a new image just adds unwanted image management complexity issues to my workflow. We use these mask layers as text wraps built into the image itself or "bust outs" ( images that overhang the background). Along with these masks we also have masks layers for color correction and object isolation. We could have up to 3 or more mask layers within an image that server different purposes within image production. Those mask stay on the image in case we have to go back after and make further tweaks and changes. I would expect that Publisher would recognize the individual mask layers and allow me to choose which one I want to use within the page. This is how indesign currently handles them. I would hope Publisher could handle multiple masks layers in the same fashion.

    Guide Colors?

I would like to see this also. This is something that could be added to guide manager.
  25. I also would like the ability to dock the Resource manger in the studio. Also, It would be great to change and add for categories to the manager to bar. Color space, Icc, Original DPI..ect. Items that are already in the detail view once you click on them. It would be nice to get a over all view of the assets in your document without the need of clicking on each one.
