Hello,
in 1.7 I now get this magnifying glass when moving nodes i do like it but when moving things around zoomed out it gets in the way so I’d like to turn it off but can’t find any settings to do so anyone know how?
Would of been nice if it was a finger on the screen and hold to activate it or something.

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
No, boolean operations aren't working yet for open paths/lines. A knife tool is already on our roadmap to be implemented later. Meanwhile you can create a node with the Node tool then with the node still selected go to the Action section in the context toolbar and select Break Curve.
