Actually, they are not. You have a choice to either subscribe or to simply make a one-time payment to upgrade your version of CSP to the new version when it's released next year. You can read the upgrade options here: https://www.clipstudio.net/en/news/202210/13_01/ So, there will still be a one-time purchase/perpetual license of CSP next year with the new version.

I posted this almost a year ago and still nothing has changed. Even so, I am glad that people are still finding this post. It's the one feature in Affinity that I really, really don't like.

First of all, not the point of this thread, but that's okay. Secondly, the icons and other elements are separate documents that will get used across various media (cards, boxes created for the cards, marketing materials, etc.). So, the change made to one needs to affect all (even if they are in completely different Affinity files). In any case, whatever is being done, I simply don't want to crop something or change a document size and have Affinity auto-zoom in on it without me wanting that.

Yep. Windows 10 here, too. The auto-zoom after crop actually drives me a bit nuts. I'm working on a set of playing cards for a game company. As a result, the cards are not large and many of the elements on the cards are small. These elements (icons and the like) were created separately. If I load them in, they instantly display auto-zoomed to fill the screen. If I have to crop them or resize them for some reason, the cropped or resized version also auto-zooms to fill the screen. Many times I need to see these items at 100% ... not 400% or more, etc. Now, to be clearer (hopefully), this is NOT happening if I resize an element that is in a document. This is if I crop or resize the actual document. So, perhaps I am working on a card and open a separate file that is an icon I need to adjust then bring over to the card document. If I crop or resize the icon document, then the entire document auto-zooms to fill the view. It doesn't matter if the document was set to 100% before cropping or resizing. After a crop or resize, the document will auto-fill the view.

I'm on a PC and the only time Affinity auto-zooms when selecting a layer is if I double-click the layer on the layer icon (not the text). If I single-click the icon (or anywhere on the layer in the layer panel), the layer is selected, but the view does not zoom to the layer content. So, for me, only double-clicking the layer icon zooms.

Currently, when you resize a document or crop an image, Affinity auto-zooms to fill the screen with the resized image. I cannot emphasize how much I cannot stand this "feature". If I am at 100% zoom, regardless of how large or small the image or document is, I want it to remain at 100%. If I crop the image or resize the document, I don't want that to change. I know I can use the Zoom icon to get to 100% and I know I can use the keyboard shortcut to do the same, but it's one more click, an unnecessary click, to get things to where they should have stayed to begin with. I was researching this (before posting here) and I see there have been several topics where people have requested changing this behavior. So, why not at least make it a Preference where the end -user can toggle the behavior on or off as they please? I had made a sheet of assets for a map making program. I had to crop out each piece and export as a PNG file. Each time I cropped, Affinity would auto-zoom in, filling the screen. Some of these pieces were really small, so all I saw was a pixelated mess on the screen (zoomed in to like 900% or even more)! I found myself spending a lot of time hitting that key to go back to 100%. Ugh! Please, for the love of whatever, change this "feature" so that I can keep Affinity at whatever zoom level I want unless I decide to change it. Thanks.

Seriously? First, thanks for the help. I appreciate it. Secondly, this is a terrible decision (to not make this something that can be turned on/off). This is the one thing that bugs me most about Affinity Photo/Designer.

Currently, if I resize a document or crop an image, etc., Affinity fills the screen with it. When working with a very small image (like cropping out an icon from a sheet of icons), this can result in a zoom that is in the hundreds (400%, 600%, etc.). Is there any way to stop this behavior so that whenever a document is resize, an image is cropped, etc., that Affinity doesn't change the current Zoom? I couldn't find anything in the preferences for this. Any help with this would be great. Thanks.

Thanks again for trying. I'll attach a file, the PDF I opened to start the project, which is simply a template for a game's box top and bottom. Then I will type the steps I took to get the unintended results I ended up with. 1 - Open Designer and open the PDF file (see attached), which should give you two pages, side by side and two groups containing all the "curves" from the imported PDF 2 - I then had opened a project of the mock-up I'd done of the box top/bottom for the client, intending to re-use the images from that project 3 - In the second project (see step 2) select a layer that is an image and hit CTRL+C to copy it 4 - Go back to the opened PDF file and hit CTRL+V to paste the image to this project. If the image ends up in one of the groups, drag it out and place it beneath both groups 5 - Select the image layer, make sure you have the move tool activated, and then adjust the placement of the image on the canvas When I do this, every time I move this image layer, or any other layer I create, it gets dumped into the group it is nearest (if I am moving the image on the page with the box top, it gets dumped into that group, etc.). box-15_165x104x39.pdf

Thank you for responding. However, neither of these helped and, in fact, were the first things I tried. When I selected the image and use the arrow-keys to move, the image moved, but was also placed within the group (when it was outside the group previously). Locking the group did not help. Even locked, if I moved the image with the mouse or arrow-keys, the image was also moved into the group.

Sorry. I was away from my PC for a bit of time. I will attempt what you've outlined here and get back to you. Thanks for trying to help.

Hello! Let's see if I can describe what is happening and hopefully someone can help me out. I had to open a PDF file of a template to follow to create a box top and bottom for a game. This resulted in two PDF pages (one for top and one for bottom) with a group for each page, the groups containing the curves for the text and bleed lines, etc. So far, no issues. I needed these groups to stay on top so they can be seen over text and images brought in so they can be positioned according to the template. I had the appropriate images opened separately and I copied/pasted them onto the template and move it to beneath the to PDF page groups. So far, so good. However, if I use the Move Tool to move the image copied in, it not only moves the image about the canvas, it also moves it INTO the group the image is beneath, nesting it within. So, for example, I copy and paste an image onto the canvas and move it on the layers panel beneath the two groups for the box top and bottom (showing the bleed lines, etc.). So, now I have three "layers" - the box top (a group with a bunch of curves for bleed lines), the box bottom (another group like the box top), and the copied image. If I use the Move Tool to adjust the position of the image on the canvas (not in the layer panel on the right) the image moves, but then also becomes nested into the group it was beneath (i.e. I am adjusting the image for the top of the box and since that is in the same area as the group for the box top, the image is moved into that group, even though I am not touching the anything on the layer panel). Why is this happening and how can I get it to stop? Is there a setting I've accidentally set or a setting I can turn off? Or is this a strange bug? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello. I am having HUGE issues with Affinity Publisher v1.8.3.641. I built a 216 page document. Each page is the front or back of a card for a card game. Each card face was added using PLACE, which created a LINK to each card. Each card is different and was created in Affinity Designer, consisting of several layers. Initially, the completed file saved fine. However, I made a change to ONE of the cards in Designer. Opened Publisher and got the following warning: Linked Resource Changed ... Modified Outside the Application No worries, I thought. But then, that's when all the troubles began. I clicked the Resource Manager button the dialog that had appeared and nothing happened. The program hung. After 20 minutes of waiting, I forced the program to shut. I opened the Publisher file again. It opened fine and displayed the same warning. I ignored it. This time, I simply tried to save the document under a new version number (document_1 saved as document_2, for example). The save dialog appeared ... then nothing. I literally walked away for 20 minutes and nothing happened. The bar that shows how far the save has gone never even started. Publisher was hung again. I had to force exit. No matter what I do, I cannot save, save as, or do anything with this file. I'll have to totally recreate the entire file again. But I am reluctant to do so. Why? Because this is the second time I've had to do that! The first file did the exact same thing. Also, as a side note - despite owning a license to all three Affinity products and having them all installed, Publisher does not see the other two ... at least not all the time. Sigh. In any case, is there any way to save this file so I don't have to spend hours recreating it yet again? Any ideas here? Any help would be appreciated.

It is confusing. Every other piece of photo software and art software calls it "Opacity". So, why be different here? When I first started to adjust brushes or attempt to make my own, I was scratching my head trying to figure out how to adjust "opacity" or to control it via pressure. I thought it would be simple, and just dove in, but could not find opacity under Dynamics. What makes this more confusing is there is an opacity slider on the top toolbar of the main interface. So, you expect to find "opacity" in the brush settings, too (especially under the Dynamics section).

Yep. That's what I've been doing. Even so, whatever the intended behavior is, I'd like the pages panel to reflect the page I am on unless I am the one to have scrolled it. It's a minor thing, but a somewhat annoying thing. Thanks for checking this, though. I do appreciate it.

As stated, it is the Pages column (Pages panel on the left side of Publisher) that moves so that the first page is being viewed there. However, the correct page is selected, so the page navigator at the bottom (below the Pages panel) states the correct page.

Hello. I am working in Publisher putting together a set of cards for a strategy card game. This means that each card, front and back, is different and there are currently 216 cards (counting both fronts and backs) in this deck. I've received some changes and am happy to see that I can make the changes directly in Publisher. Fantastic. However, there is an issue. After I exit from Edit Document I find that my Pages column (left hand side) is back to Page 1. Since I will be editing a lot of these cards throughout the deck (each card face on it's own page), having to scroll back down to where I had left off each time I edit a document is kind of a pain. So, is this normal behavior? Is there a way to keep this from happening? Or is there a way to get the Pages column to move to the current page I am working on in the main view when this occurs? I was not able to record a video, but I was experiencing this quite a bit with my last project. I had to make corrections to the deck of cards and replace them in the deck I had put together in Publisher. In each case I was bringing in a PSD file saved from Photoshop. I was never creating or placing any text whatsoever. The PSD file had layers and, yes, some of the layers were text layers. But in every case, the PSD file was a complete card with text and images making the entire design. When I used Place or Replace (to replace a previously placed image), many times when I went to Place or Replace, it would default to TXT instead of the last option, which shows any type of supported file. I don't know if this helps. I hope so, though, as I was getting this a lot this last time around. Sometimes Place or Replace was defaulting to TXT several times in a row.

Any word on this?

It was a document with some fairly simple shapes. I can share it here (see attached). As pointed out, it printed once out of about five tries ... and that one time was not the first attempt. CSTabmate_Scheme.afdesign

Hello. This is a strange one. I installed the latest version of Designer today (1.7.2) and I cannot always print my work directly in Designer. In fact, out of 5 attempts (with starting Designer over twice), I was only able to get a document to print once. I've had to export to PDF and print from there. Each time I attempt to print from within Designer, my printer starts to whir like it is going to print, then it shuts down as if it didn't get a file. My printer is not reacting this way to any other piece of software I have installed on my Windows 10 PC.
