Ooops, why didn't I think of that!? Thanks a lot!
The Affinity videos are very interesting and helpful. I was searching for Blur and Shadow so I didn't come across that one.

Hi,
I'm trying to create a drop shadow for an object. The available tools like Drop Shadow and Blur Filter are limited to 100 pixels. However, this is not enough since the object is roughly 5000 pixels.
I created a solid coloured shape and stacked 7 live filters of Gaussian Blur to place it behind my object. This gives me roughly the effect I want. But the App gets sluggish and hangs repeatedly. I can't merge these layers.
What is the best way to make a very large blur?
Thanks!

Thank you, that would be really great.

Hi,
when using a brush with softness for masking, that one circle is somewhere between 100% and 0%.
However, I think it would be more useful if the indicator would show the outer limit of the brush and the border of the 100% area. It is shown this way when resizing the brush by ctrl-opt-drag. It should always be like that.
Especially when editing photos where preserving every bit of data, seeing the outer limit of the brush would be more than useful for precise refinement (to not brush over the actual subject).
Thanks

Hi,
when editing a mask, how can I see the actual mask as a red overlay? When I click on the squre-with-circle icon in the toolbar, the entire photo gets a red overlay, regardless the mask.
An option-click shows the mask in black & white but then the image content goes away. I've tried all kinds of shortcuts and menus.
How can I see the mask AND my image at the same time?
Thanks

Yes, I understand. That's probably ok if one has few groups with many layers inside. However, I have many groups with only few layers each (1-3).
Moving between them constantly means cmd-click more often than not. Hence it is inconvenient for me, but more important to avoid unwanted changes. Forget to press cmd only once and it will edit things that I won't even recognise until later. Hope you understand why I'd prefer it the other way around for my usecase (creating screenshots for app store submission).

Thanks, that's useful. I didn't know that something could be typed in there. The slices panel is very powerful.

Hi,
I want to export my image in different sizes, like 1024px, 512px, 256px etc.
The export persona doesn't seem to allow setting the output size.
When using the export dialog, I can set output dimensions but cannot save them as a preset. The Export > More > manage presets > create preset is always greyed out.
What is the recommended way of exporting my image in different sizes?
My thought was to create slices and apply presets to them, one for each size.
Thanks

Thanks. There is really no setting to change this? Holding cmd for every click seems odd.
I had to re-do some work because layers/objects were edited without me noticing it. (One object is shown as selected but 15 layers get the edits applied every time!)

Hi,
How can I set the selection/arrow tool to select only that object that I am clicking on by default?
My document has 3 groups containing 5 groups each. Every time I click on an object, it selects all the content of 5 groups (even though it indicates that only that one object is selected).
Thanks

Just noticed that RC4 opens some files flipped horizontally. This also applies to version 1.4.3. When creating a stack, then it's flipped + rotated 90° (tif 16bit from the Pentax DCU raw converter). They are opened correctly in other apps.
How to pick a colour and change it in the image?

Hi,
I want to pick a certain colour from my image and change it's hue, saturation and brightness wherever it occurs in my image. This could for example be fine tuning certain colours in product photos, change the colour of flowers on a model's dress or remove nasty fringing in high contrast images (when filters won't do it).
What's the best way to do this in AP?
Thanks!
