  1. Just a note that one bug that was addressed in the first RC is still present: "Fixed being unable to apply black/grey/white/none swatch if already highlighted". See https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/25349-15018-bug-changing-colour-in-swatches-panel/
  2. When using the Colour panel's option to "Copy Colour to Clipboard as Hex," the resulting value may have five digits if the red value is less than 16. For instance, RGB(15,12,9) copies to the clipboard as "#F0C09". It should be "#0F0C09".
  3. Although 1.5.0.25 claims to fix this ("Fixed being unable to apply black/grey/white/none swatch if already highlighted"), this problem persists in 1.5.0.26. In the Swatches panel, both the bar of recent colours and the bar of fixed colours (none, black, grey, white) do not adjust the highlighted swatch to match the selection, and usually (thought not always any more) clicking on a selected swatch will not change the colour of the selected object. Hope this can be really fixed before release. To replicate: Create an object, colour it black. Create another object, colour it white (using either the recent colours bar or the fixed colours bar within the Swatches panel). Select the first object and attempt to click the same white swatch to make this black object white. (No effect.) Edit: Oddly, if you do the exact same steps but reverse the colours so that the first object is white and the second object is black, you are able to make the first object black using the same swatch. So, something has changed from before when this consistently didn't work, but the bug is not fully resolved.
  4. Weird, a single-click wasn't doing anything for me, which I why I double-clicked. But since that restart it has been working with a single click. I'll keep checking to see if this happens again. Or maybe I was just confused! And yes, the graphic is confusing. When toggling from unconstrained to constrained aspect, the icon changes when you move your mouse over before you click. When toggling from constrained to unconstrained, the icon doesn't change when you mouse-over or when you click; you have to move the mouse off the icon to see its new state. In neither case is there any feedback that something has happened at the time of the click.
  5. In the Transform panel, I can double-click the chain links beside the W and H to lock the aspect ratio, but if I double-click again, I can't go back to the unconstrained mode where I can adjust W and H independently. Once the aspect ratio is locked, I have to shut down Designer and restart to get back to the normal mode.
  6. 1. With the Swatches panel open, draw a rectangle and colour it black using the swatch directly right of the no colour option. The black swatch now has an inner white and black border to indicate it is the active swatch. 2. Draw another rectangle and colour it white using the same part of the Swatches panel. The white swatch now has a border to show it is active. 3. Switch to the Move tool, select the first rectangle and attempt to colour it white. Because this swatch already has the active border (even though this rectangle is black), it is not clickable. To change the rectangle, it is necessary to first click another swatch to remove the active border and then click the white swatch. This extra step should not be necessary. The active swatch should match the selected object (as it does for swatches in the main part of the Swatches panel). Similarly, if using the list of Recent swatches, the active border does not follow the selected object. However, with these it remains possible to click a swatch even if it erroneously has the active border.
  7. Hi Mark, thanks for answering. I wasn't sure if you just meant it wasn't supported in beta or isn't planned for the release, but I've now found an earlier topic that confirms this is not planned for the initial release. Too bad, especially since the Mac version advertises "Pro Font Support" that lets you "Create elegant text with OpenType, Type 1, and True Type fonts." Sorry for starting a duplicate topic. The forum search doesn't allow searches for things like "type 1" (it converts this to simply "type," even if you put the phrase in quotes) so I only found the other topics later when I used Google.
  8. Hi, I'm loving the new beta and enjoying tooling around in Designer. But I've hit one snag. In the font list, Adobe Type 1 fonts that are installed on my system (and visible in Illustrator as well as other programs) do not show up. For instance, I have a fairly old set of Adobe Type 1 fonts for ITC Giovanni that are missing. I thought this might have to do with how they were installed by a font manager, so I removed them and reinstalled directly using Windows' Fonts control panel. Still no luck. If I try to open an Illustrator file that uses the font in Designer, it asks me to substitute another font. Does Designer for Windows not yet support Type 1? And if so, is this on the list to fix before release?
