Now I'm confused why the same images were (presumably) linked as opposed to embedded but i have no way to know.😟

Copy and paste. I open them in Affinity photo, crop then copy and paste into Publisher. Nothing tells me whether I'm embedding or linking and as above nor does the resources manager tell me. In fact it's a bit annoying because the images it does list have the wrong (old) names

OK, I can see that option but it seems to be ticked by default (and I certainly never unticed it, so I am confused as to how some of the images are linked not embedded I have managed to replace those images in the document, but I still don't know whether they are embedded or linked. I can open the resources manager, but these two images do not show in it, although they are in the layer list and now back in the document

I have no idea what linked means, or rather, I can imagine but I wouldn't know how to link. Normally I just open an image in Affinity then copy and paste into my project. I've never had this problem before. So what should I now do to make sure images are embedded not linked? Edit: I have seen the manual, which mentions embedding, but doesn't actually tell you how to embed or how to link ??? Many thanks.

I just opened a Publisher (1.9.3) project and got an missing resources message. Two images are just showing very blurry. The mreeage asks me to loctae them, they do seem to be in the layers list but those only refer to the very blurry images. I may be able to locate the original images, but it may be difficult. Can anyone please help? Thanks

The PDF files from Sibelius are quite large. I was hoping to be able to make them sammler by exporting to SVG. They do work as featured image, butthe only way to show them on a worpress pages seems to be via the PDF embedder plugin, which I don't like the look of. And again we can reduce the size by using PNG. I was just hoping that we could also reduce the size via SVG.

We are exporting from Sibelius as PDF. That is the product we are selling. But we want to show extracts on the web page (also as Woocommerce featured image and image gallery) and we cannot do that with PDF. So we are currently exporting to png in order to display as images, but I was hoping to display as SVG to get better quality and/or smaller file sizes. SVG is better quality obviously, but for music scores they seem to be very large file sizes, presumably dueb to the sheer amount of curves involved. I have had good success embedding simpler SVGs at tiny file sizes. So I was wondering if there is a way to get the music pages exporting more efficiently. SVG do embed on Wordpress featured image up to a point, but do not work when hovering over in order to zoom in on the detail.

Let's hope so. This be a a bit moot now that I discover that Wordpress featured image doesn't support SVG properly.

Thanks that's a good resource. But I wonder why it is actually necessary and that optimisation of files on export is not a function of Affinity.

I am importing music from Sibelius or Logic to Affinity Designer. All layers are vector curves. I want to show these as very high res on a web page, so I assumed that SVG would work well to retain the best quality vs file size. However a single page of very simple music exported to SVG is approx 300kb which is bigger than the same page exported to PNG. It is also larger than the actual affinity file (attached) which seems a bit odd. Is this inevitable given the huge number of different vector curves involved, or does anyone please know of a way to get the exported SVG significantly smaller (<100kb or less would be nice). No need to be snarky. I looked in preferences and in the online help, so I asked here. and got a useful non-snarky answer from @Old Bruce above. In the online help as first resort, searched for export preview , export preview zoom and export preview zoom andI found nothing that mention anything pertinent. I looked in preferences and did not see these shortcuts.

Then having done that, ideally I need to make the thick end slightly blurry to blend into the face.

Is it possible to make a simple line that is wider/thicker at one end and thin at the other.? Basically I am trying to draw some cats whiskers, so I was thinking a single line with a tapering stroke (from about 5 pixels down to 1), I could then curve it to look like a whisker. I have managed something that sort of works by making a triangle with a fill, converting to curves and then adding two nodes roughly in the middle to curve it, but that is very fiddly. It would be a lot easier with a single tapering line. Can anyone please help - thank you

Which makes it all the more odd that you can't do it in Photo Yes, I can imagine that would become very cluttered.

If I use the a brush tool and choose a brush, then set the size, very often I would want that size to be the same if I then choose another brush. But each brush has its own "default" size, and every time you choose a different brush it changes to the brush defualt size instead of staying at the size I originally chose. Is there a way to make the size stay consistent as I choose different brushes so I don't have to keep changing to the size I want to use? Thanks

OK, thanks I might wait for 1.9on Mac release then, I imagine working with upside down preview is not easy. I'm not sure what you mean by selling brush sets? I want this to add effects to my images, I don't sell things.

Please excuse me if this is the wrong section to post, but as I am more or less only printing direct from Affinity photo I think it is probably relevant (if not mods please move) I am mostly working in Affinity photo and using an old Epson WP-4535 which is giving me great results (given the cost of the printer). I hadn't realised quite how good it was until it recently died and we had to use my wife's Brother MFC-J5335 DW. Prints from the Epson looked sharp and very close to what we are seeing on the monitor 27" Imac Radeon Pro Vega 64. On the Brother they are darker, less contrast and less sharp. I don't know if this is just that the old Epson is (was) better, or whether there is some way to get the Brother to print with similar quality. We cannot find any way in the Brother print settings to change anything but maybe somebody here has a solution, for which I'd be forever grateful. If not, then any recommendations for reasonably priced (ideally< £300) printer
