  1. Thanks, yes that does work. I was confused because the lasso tool is already completed as an area as opposed to being a line that finally joins up to itself at the end.
  2. Yes, it happens after a restart. After further testing: It only happens when the Affinity is not the default in contextual menu. This behaviour doesn't happen with any other application. (Including Affinity Designer)
  3. I am moving over from Photoshop and there are a couple things I can't find: 1 Selecting using the lasso tool, by holding alt and drawing a straight line to the next click and so on to make a polygonal selction. 2 Selecting an entire object. e.g. say I have a layer that just has one object in it. I want to just select the entire object. In Photoshop I click CMD + A to select the whole layer, then click on first the left and then right arrows and the outline of the object becomes selected (Sorry I am not explaining that very technically)
  4. I am interested in testing this on another PDF. Is it possible to explain all the steps to do this as I very new to this stuff. Or oint me to a tutorial. Thanks
  5. Thanks that sounds useful BUT, although Logic exports as a PDF, Affinity has a problem because of the embedded music font (AScore). see here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/24911-music-fonts-and-pdf-files/ So I have to first convert to TIFF or PNG (using Preview). (NB: I can import those Logic PDFs to Photoshop, but not Affinity)
  6. It's Affinity Photo and El capitan 10.11.6 I did some more testing. It seems fine with files that open with Affinity by default Whther afphoto or other format. But the issue happens if (for example) you open from the finder a file that has preview as default, but open in Affinity by right clicking and choosing Affinity Photo. Those files are OK if Affinity is not yet open, just have the issue when it's already running.
  7. I am resizing a lot of music score images. The lines of the stave are obviously important, but I am having trouble resizing to a much smaller size without the lines getting fuzzy. The files are exported from my music score program (Logic) as enormous files, for example a page of A4 is 10041px x 13316px 300dpi. and has lines of the staves that are 7 px. I need to resize to at least 10% dimensions and 72dpi (for web publishing) I have tested with all the resampling types available and bicubic and Bilinear seem to be best, but still a bit fuzzy. Does anyone know of any other process that might help me to resize these and have the lines less fuzzy? I have attached examples of before and after reduction to 10% Before: After:
  8. If you are browsing in the Finder and click on a file that would normally open in Afffinity, there is an issue if If Affinity is already open. Instead of it just opening another window as it would with (I think) any other application on a Mac, you get a message that Affinity is already running followed by an error as if it has crashed: Affinity Photo quit unexpectedly. but it hasn't crashed and the file did not open I think this is a bug isn't it?
  9. OK, I understand it may not be possibe I have also now worked out the issue. If there is just one color overlay it imports fine with that overlay already active. However if there is more than one color overlay, then you need to click on FX, but it defaults to the color of the top overlay (whether or not it is active. So for example here it will open in Affinity without any FX. If I then click on FX and then overlay, it will open with the top (unticked) overlay colour, not the lower (ticked) colour I want. So in this case is there a way to retrieve the lower (ticked? overlay ?
  10. I am happy to have found Affibity and ditch PS. However when importing Photoshop files, I find that in some cases layers import fine with their FX (e.g. color overlay) intact, other files do not. Is this a random bug or is there something I'm missing when opening .psd files in Affinity?
  11. OK thanks. I don't actually want/need to edit the text, I just want to resize and saves as .png for web images. Ironic that Photoshop imports from Logic, but a Mac oriented application Affinity doesn't :) Oh well, I have a workaround, import into Preview then export as TIFF and import that into Affinity.
  12. Aha, thanks. I didn't have the move tool selected. That sems to be missing from the manual.
  13. I want to change the size of an layer or selection. The manual mentions the transform panel, which I have chosen, but all the values are greyed out. I cannot adjust them or type anything in. I'm sure I am missing something obvious, can anyone please help?
  14. Affinity sems to be great, apart from this one issue I have. I hope somebody van help. I am importing a page of music score from Logic Pro. This exports from Logic as a PDF. With Photoshop, these imported with no problems, however with Affinity, the music is not showing properly. When importing I am prompted to replace the missing font Ascore, which I have never heard of. (I am using Sonata, Bravura and Swing fonts - all standard music fonts) No such prompt with Photoshop, it just imports and looks correct. I have attached a couple of files, one showing how it imports to Photoshop and the other how it appears in Affinity. I hope this is just a setting I need to change because this is important to my workflow and I just bought Affinity (and cancelled PS before testing this aspect of my work) Photoshop import Affinity import Can anyone please help
