  1. Walt, Yes I can reproduce this, with even fewer steps: 1. Start afpub / File > New / click OK at foot of "New Document" panel 2. Click Frame Text Tool, draw new text frame 3. Without doing anything else, double-click the left-middle handle... and crash. I would be curious to know, if you have the time to try it, what happens with you if you open my test document and try my steps at the start of this thread.
  2. "Interesting. I cannot reproduce this. It seems to work here." ...Thanks for trying, Dominik. Is anyone else able to reproduce this "Flowing Text bug" problem...?
  3. Hi Dominik, Yes, I can reproduce it. And I don't have to select the Move tool: just stay with the Text Frame tool, then double-click the left transformation handle. I wonder if this text frame bug is related to another one I found, here:
  4. I think there's a bug in the flowing of text from one frame to another. I attach a test file to demonstrate this. 1. Click inside the 3-column text frame. 2. Click on the little (it could usefully be bigger) orangey-red triangle on the frame's right-hand edge. The "new text frame" cursor appears (T in a box). 3. Attempt to drag a new text frame. If it works, move to the new text frame, click inside that, and keep repeating steps 2 and 3. 4. For me, this will sooner or later cause Publisher to crash. Sometimes it happens on the first "flow out" attempt; sometimes only after 2 or 3 or 4 "flow outs" have been completed. This is on my Windows 10 laptop: Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz, 2904 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Pr... BaseBoard Manufacturer HP Graphics (GPU): GeForce GTX 950M test document (bug demo).afpub P.S. I wonder if this Text Frame bug is related to another one found by Dominik, here:
  5. In PagePlus X9 (and earlier), the crop tool usefully offered two variants: square crop, and irregular crop. Affinity Publisher Beta 1.7.0.58 seems to have only a square crop facility. Is it intended to add an irregular crop facility in the eventual fully released version?
  6. The attached image is just to illustrate the differences between the menu Ken Emeigh had and the menu I have. Hopefully if Ken carries out the steps carl123 and MEB have provided, Ken's menu will be the same as the Windows one.
  7. Found it: Text menu > Show Special Characters Searching in Help for 'special characters', then clicking on the six question marks ??????, and scrolling down to the bottom of the resulting help article, will reveal this information. Thanks Seneca, just saw your reply after posting mine.
  8. Please excuse my question if I've failed to see something that's evident, but I cannot find in Affinity Publisher Beta a way of toggling on and off the viewing of non-printing characters, such as paragraph marks, newline characters, spaces, tab characters, and so on, within text-frame text. If someone could please show me how to make these characters visible, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks in anticipation.
  9. Ah, so it is, thank you... and in that release it does indeed work (in its own sometimes rather unfathomable manner).
  10. Alfred, Many thanks for that useful information -- done. I'm now on the purchased, release, version 1.5.0.45; the dodge brush behaviour is still the same but maybe I'm simply not understanding which layer(s) it should and shouldn't be expected to work on.
  11. Hi MEB, I tried (and had already tried) what you suggested but at present it's still looking like a bug to me....? I've attached a screenshots image. The brush remains visible in both cases (but hasn't appeared in the screenshots). BTW the title of this thread should be "Dodge brush not working on "higher" layers...?"... I mistyped "ot"... maybe you are able to correct it; I'm afraid I can't find a way of doing so.
  12. Hello, I'm working with Windows beta 1.5.0.39 which seems to me to be a fantastic product-in-the-making -- thanks and well done, Affinity team. I notice that I can use the Dodge brush successfully to lighten areas on the base ("Background (Pixel)") layer.... but after I've added a few more layers onto that, e.g. to adjust perspective or crop or brightness/contrast, using the dodge brush on those layers has no effect. The brush circle is still visible on the screen and its size and properties can be varied as normal.... it's just that applying it on these overlaid layers does nothing. Am I just being thick? I'm rather new and inexperienced in photo editing, so apologies if I'm trying to do something that won't work for reasons which to more experienced people are obvious and valid.
