  1. When you start CorelDraw you see a panel with some options: amongst other things you can see some of the last files with name and picture of the content (!) and can start them by simple click. This I would also like in AD. KoBu
  2. Supplement: The fonts Shelley Allegro, Shelley Andante and Shelley Volante: In AD they were displayed as a sole font and can only altered in the menu in „reguar“, „regular“, „regular“, without knowing which Shelley you choose. In CorelDraw and Word they are displayed in the fonts als Shelley Allegro, Shelley Andante and Shelley Volante. KoBu
  3. I created a page with different fonts (see Fonts-test.afdesign). On the screen everything looks ok. When I print the page, some texts are illegible (see my scan: Test-Print Original.pdf). I exported the page in AD as a pdf. The pdf is o.k. Then I printed the pdf. The pdf-print is fine, too. Then I tested the fonts with CorelDraw: no problems - all o.k. Has someone an idea, what’s wrong? KoBu Fonts-test.afdesign Test-Print Original.pdf
  4. I opened a (with AD created) simple test-object (see attached file). Without closing it, I opened a new document. There i tried to place (with „file“ „place“) the still open test-object – then AD crashes. No crash, when the test-object is not yet opened! By double-click the original test-object will open, but at the moment nothing crashes. The crash comes then, when I will close the new document (into which I have embeded the test-object). Look at the attached note. The following message appears before crashing: "An Unhandled Exception has occurred. Code: 0x80004003" KoBu 1-object.afdesign
  5. Wonderful, it works. There are so many possibilites in AD that i would like to get an independent manual as pdf. KoBu
  6. I would like to copy/clone a complex object. When I change the original (colour, shape, …), the clone(s) should automatically be adaptet. Can I do this in AD? Thanks KoBu
  7. In CorelDraw I can move individual letters horizontal (kerning) and/or vertical and/or changing the angle by using the node tool (see attached example). I do not want to change the text into knots (because sometimes the text needs to be altered). Such a possibility is necessary because not all fonts master the kerning. I did’nt find such a possibility in AD. I think that AD should master this (in my opinion) basic routine, but I cannot find how it works in AD. Can you help me? KoBu
  8. I use text flow in CorelDraw since many years. In my opinion this is a basic feature, that should be included in AD too. KoBu
  9. AD for win Please enable other angels in the guidesmanager for helplines than horizontal or vertical. I often use varous angles for helplines in CorelDraw. In CorelDraw you can alter the angle when you click on the helpline - then you get "helping arrows" to change the angle. This is great feature. KoBu
  10. In Affinity Designer for Win I would like to get a master-layer in the artboard. In CorelDraw exists a master-layer. There you can even choose a master-layer for odd or even pages. I juse this master principally to get helplines, that relate to all layers. It helps me to get a homogenous arrangement of text/pictures and others in all following layers. I think there is a general interest for this possibility, see https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/19181-artboard-management/?p=89057 https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/19181-artboard-management/?p=89065 KoBu
  11. AD Is it possible to open the guidesmanager by doubleclick on guides or helplines? KoBu
  12. Please enable setting a layer as visible, but not printable in AD. I use it often in CorelDraw. KoBu
  13. Thank you Alfred, In Corel I cannot choose PDF compatibility when exporting into ai (please look at the attached file). But now I export to pdf (a good advice of our member vonBusing). There are many setting options. Text will be adopted an can be changed. Wonderful. Unfortunately, the layers in Corel will be lost. But you can not have all. KoBu
  14. Thank you vonBusing thank you Mike I tried to export als pdf (as you said) --- and it works insofar as the text will be adopted. I can change the text. Wonderful. Unfortunately, the layers in Corel will be lost. But you can not have all. I agree with Mike, that completed work, if need is to modify it, should be done in the original application. KoBu
  15. Hi Ralph, Hi Ralph, I'm also using CorelDraw for many years (since Version 3, now X7). I work in CorelDraw usually with text. So I hope, that AD contains text-basics like CorelDraw. Now I try to use my cdr-files in AD. I want to save my layers. How do you import cdr-files in AD? Export in CorelDraw as ai-files does not work (ai-files are empty). Is this a fault in CorelDraw X7 or do I make a big mistake somewhere? Export as eps-files: It works - at first glance. Unfortunately text will be altered into single letters. That means: You cannot properly work with the text. A dotted line in Corel will be altered into single points !!!! So you get many many many layers in AD. KoBu
  16. Thank you Mike, your eps-file I can open in AD. I have then exported other files in Corel as eps-files. It works - at first glance. Unfortunately text wil be altered into single letters (you said it). That means: I cannot properly work with the text. A dotted line in Corel will be altered in single points !!!! So I get many many many layers in AD. Exporting as ai-files: I think it's a fault in CorelDraw (or I make a big mistake somewhere). So I see no other way than to create new files from the beginning without using existing Corel-files. Thank's KoBu
  17. Hi Mike, thank you. Now it worked. KoBu test-1.zip
  18. Hi, I wanted to upload the Corel-file (CorelDraw X7), but it is not possible. "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file" KoBu
  19. Hi, thank you for testing. I'm using AD 1.5.0.4. I have hundeds of CorelDraw-files (.cdr) and I thougt, I could save them by exporting als ai-files, because my cdr-files have a lot of layers. I think MikeW is right (no content in the ai-file). Something goes wrong when exporting these files als ai. I have created a very simple file with text and an a rectangle. Same result. I show you the exporting menue of Corel. Perhaps I make a mistake when exporting. test-1.ai
  20. Hi, thank you for testing. 1. You are right: AD does not like "ü" or other "Umlaute". When changing the file-name, AD will not crash. 2. Then I get also an empty sheet. The picture and the text in the original CorelDraw-file are missing (see attached jpg). I think CorelDraw has an error when exporting the original into an ai-file. KoBu
  21. Hi If I want to open an ai-file (see attached file as example, created in CorelDraw), Designer crashes. What can I do? KoBu Paket für Sie.ai
