  1. Hey, Would you happen to be in the Pixel Persona (for Designer)? If you're in the Draw Persona the brushes won't show up as they are not vector brushes. Let me know if you have any success
  2. Hey, Sorry for the mistake. I just sent everyone an email explaining the error, What you need to do is log into your Gumroad account and download the Box Set from your library- it should contain all the updated files. Thanks! and let me know if you have any trouble
  3. Hi everyone! I hope the new year has been good to everyone so far. I’ve been working on some new brushes and wanted to share the update! I've now doubled the total number of brushes since the inception of these sets. The Box Set now has 300 Brushes. If you purchased it from Gumroad you’ll find the set has been updated with all the new brushes and all you need to do is re-download it. New Old Set Consolidation I’ve consolidated all of the individual sets (Sumi-E, Hand Lettering, Pen&Ink etc) into two: Drawing & Painting. I want any future updates to be easy on everyone (including myself) so I figured just break it down like so: Drawing set New Charcoal and Graphite [Raster and Vector] Pen and Ink Hand Lettering Painting Set: New Watercolors [Raster] Sumi-E Painterly (Formerly Tubro Rad) All of the individual sets have been discontinued (Unpublished from Gumroad) and if you purchased any of them you'll soon receive an E-mail with a link to download the corresponding set (drawing or painting - whichever one yours fell in) at no cost. Also, just for Members of this forum, the first 50 sets of the Drawing & Painting sets are completely free. Just follow the links and Enjoy! The Sample Set also has a few new additions in it and is still totally free. (if you downloaded it before Jan 15th go ahead and re-download the update.) RASTER BRUSHES! One of the most frequent questions I'm asked is, "Are there Raster versions of these brushes?" The answer to that has always secretly been "yes, but I don't think they're very good yet." I'm continually learning and experimenting with different brushes, textures, and effects while narrowing down how to make them feel and look good. Well, I've finally completed two sets that I think both accomplish just that! Charcoal and Graphite Drawing is THE foundation of how I think and approach image making (among other things). So it was only natural that it was the first on the list of brushes I wanted to make. It allowed me to focus on creating brushes that gave a variation in value and texture and also responded to the types of pressure that I was applying to the tablet. All of these brushes simulate various graphite pencils, compressed charcoal, colored pencils, and erasers. I am especially proud of the colored pencil which accumulates really nicely for gestalt blending effects. There is also a charcoal and graphite vector set. The first 11 brushes were designed to repeat infinitely so the path will look seamless as you draw. The others are designed for much shorter strokes/hatching. Watercolor My favorite medium is Watercolor. I like it because it forces me to rethink how I perceive and plan color and value. It's also a medium that reminds me to relinquish control and just let things flow. My favorite watercolorist is by far Winslow Homer, he could say a lot with a little and really make watercolor sing. These raster brushes are arranged in order of application: Washes, rounds, and then dry brushing (which I learned by studying Homer's paintings). They feel just as light and unforgiving as real watercolors can, and also give a nice array of textures and pearly color. As always if you have any questions or just want to say hey, don’t hesitate to give me a shout here, on twitter (@jeflbrown) or send me an email hello@jefbrown.com. If you like my work spread the word, and if you made something awesome with my brushes I'd love to see it. Cheers! PS The next set I am working on is inking. here's a preview of a brush I'm this close to getting to look and feel like a Copic marker.
  4. Hello, I have started working on a bunch of pixel brushes brushes, and hope to finish them by the beginning of 2017. They won't be perfect 1:1 versions of the vector brushes, but will attempt to accomplish some parity- for instance, I want brushes that have the same effect as Sumi ink, or have a finish like some of the pens/markers, but allow for a level of expression that pixel painting offers. I am curious though which of the vector brushes you'd like a pixel version of. Thanks for the interest!
  5. Yep, Paolo's work and tutorials are what got me interested in brush making.
  6. Hey, thanks for picking up the set! You did everything correctly in closing the loop (adjusting the head and tail offset) except the final step. Select the path and Break Curve. and Viola! it'll overlap. It's a bit of a work around, but it should give you the results you desire. Let me know how that worked for you.
  7. Hey, I just replied to your tweet, but I think it's good to answer your it here too. If you export the vector path with the brush applied as an EPS (to my understanding) you'll have a raster image of the stroke that was made with a vector. If you only apply the system default stroke to the path and you export as an EPS (or SVG for that matter) you'll retain the vector information in the file. I hope that was helpful, let me know if there is anything more I can help you with
  8. I have a free set to download if you'd like called the "sample set"
  9. Hey, You should receive an email with the link to download one you purchased it. If not, you can sign into your Gumroad account you used to purchase the set and download it from your Library You can also go to the set directly and you'll be given the option to download it: The Box Set Let me know if any of these worked
  10. If you sign into the same account you used to purchase the set and navigate to your "Library" at the top you should be able to download the box set again. Inside of the folder you'll see the Turbo Rad Set.
  11. Hello again! I have been working on a project that dealt heavily in 80's retro aesthetics. I needed a brush that was reminiscent of the painterly slashes and strokes of the era- I couldn't find anything that fit my needs specifically so... I made some. Thus was born "The Turbo Rad" set. 50 Vector brushes modeled after the typography and graphic design of the 1980s. Each brush was hand made using different media and surfaces that are then scanned and touched up to achieve the right weight, angle, splash, and texture. They're all named in reference to touchstones of the culture. TIP: Give the stroke an Outer shadow with a radius of 0 or Outer Glow to give them that gnarly 80's vibe. If you purchased the Box Set (at any price) this update is totally free. You should have received an Email with instructions to download it. If not, you can Re-download the Box Set from gumroad and it will include the Turbo Rad brushes. If you haven't gotten your hands on my set of 200 vector brushes, you can use the Promo code INKTOBER all month for 20% off the box set. I hope you like what I've made and that they can help you make your work most excellent!
  12. My mockup was mainly used as a way of quickly illustrating an idea that would take paragraphs to explain- any of my choices shouldn't be taken as gospel and need refinement. (for instance: the "blend" idea can't work the way I described it with the foreground and background color). I completely agree, I don't want functionality to be removed where it has value. I have complete faith in the design team behind Affinity to make refinements that maintain the integrity of their app as well as build a great user experience. My suggestion was simply aimed at generating a conversation around color control and selection. Whatever the team decides to do/not do with it I know will be for the best.
  13. I intentionally left it off. I felt that if one wanted variable opacity in paint that blend modes would suffice or they could just use the layer opacity setting. I think that would be more useful than setting it per color (for painting explicitly).
  14. It would be great to have a color wheel similar to this: I'd even be happy if we could have TWO color pallets viewable in the workspace, One being sliders and the other being a wheel. I would LOVE an option similar to something like this: These would give a great amount of control with color that would make color selection with painting a lot smoother. Changes: 1. Red being at the top (0 degrees) 2. Color schemes: Complimentary, Triadic, split complimentary, etc. 3. Tint - 100% tint is always represented as the color, where in painting if you've tinted your colors you're ADDING white, so the slider is reversed from the default. 4. Blending - foreground and background colors go on either end of the slider. 5. Color temperature (lock) & Tone (lock)- these are lifted from Anastasy's Magic Picker, they're really powerful features I hope this was somewhat intelligible and that others might find these requests useful for their process. Thank you very much for taking our requests seriously and listening to the community, you guys and gals rock!
  15. Thanks for grabbing the set! I will probably do something similar (in terms of pricing) for the pixel brushes as I did with the vector brushes. There will be a free set with a sampling of each of the larger paid sets then one huge set with all of the pixel brushes. I also might make a combo box set with all the vector and all the pixel brushes. I really like what Kyle T. Webster and Frenden do with their brush set pricing so any box set will always get updates for free with any new brush to the brush sets they contain. Speaking of the pixel brushes I just started tinkering and making some watercolor and acrylic brushes. I think it will be a little while before I do a massive release mainly because I want to make brushes that 'I' like and use. Before I post those brushes for sale I think they all need to be field tested extensively, and the best way to do that is to draw and paint with them while they are being made. It's a lot like living in a house that you're building, and fits well with the way my process works- I make, learn, revise, and repeat. It's completely inefficient, but absolutely expressive. :) Also, I don't want to bite anyone else work/brushes only to repeat the offerings of other creators. Here's some experiments:
  16. I appreciate it! I'm going to take the word "Schedule" as a remarkable compliment :)
  17. Excellent! Im sorry you had trouble with paypal, but now you get to enjoy some awesome brushes! Enjoy!
  18. Hey! I'm glad you picked them up! I think you'll really enjoy them while your getting your feet wet with Affinity designer- it's a great app and the community is stellar.
