Or, instead of Cmd+C, try Edit > Copy Merged (probably Cmd+Shift+C).

thanks for replying, it's the original layer of the photo so I thought it would already be a pixel layer

hello, I'm trying to a create new layer from selection. I make make my selection with the selection brush and then hit Command C and Command V.
The new layer is just an exact copy . It's suppose to be just the selection.
I'm new to Affinity Photo and thinking maybe I have something wrong in my settings.
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks
