Thanks for your assistance. Now to figure out why the Xenon brush pack won't install within the software...

Still no fix for this on latest version. I use Affinity for creating text based images - images of text with some design elements, but I find the permanently on view hidden characters a distraction. I don't have publisher to defer to, so this needs sorting with a simple on off process.
