😹
ya'll really did change the subject…
i thought i was getting affinity spammed… >turning off notifications< 😆
but yea, AI is not new, nor scary…
image recognition/training has been around for decades — think google's annoying recaptcha — they've gotten a lot of free labor for that tedious training…
the algorithms have simply gotten better, hence hair/background isolation, content aware fill, what have you…
now, this fashionable shiny "AI" emerges — ChatGPT, OpenAI, & Adobe's Firefly… all trained with copyright materials, without consent of the artists. there's more than enough documentation on that… [this can include Microsoft's Nonsense, Siri, Echo, etc use of private data]
Adobe's business practices are completely against the artists & designers that use their software.
their buggy software only improves when they acquire/integrate a smaller company's plugin. & they haven't done that in a while... maybe they'll hear that astute graphics is the only thing keeping illustrator afloat?
they have a monopoly in the design industry. they hold artists' work hostage with an over-priced subscription.
they are currently using the hard work of artists in their stock art store to train firefly. those artists are not allowed to opt out, if they want the additional income from adobe's stock art. so their style & creative vision is being muddied.
this 'new' 'AI' is just another algorithm, quite plainly, built on theft.
and i want nothing to do with it.
ultimately, it's not up to me whether AI is integrated into affinity… unless serif wants to hire me… 😉
enough with adobe & AI… !!!
maybe you'll find me in a wacom thread 🤪
