hello! is there a way to stop affinity dividing the multi-pass from a C4D file into blue/green/red layers? (imported in open exr)

Hi would any experts have advice on creating bump maps of images for use in 3d renders? should I go the greyscale route or black and white ? is there a filter I'm not aware of? any suggestions most welcome. thanks!
