  1. Hi, I've been using publisher for layout of a lot of data that I get from spreadsheets. Most of the time I make an object that I repeat across a lot of pages then link the different sections together and this works fine, I make one text box large enough to fit one line thus one row in the spread sheet. Then I can just copy the data over column by column and all is good. (pictured) My problem is when I want to actually present the data in the spreadsheet as a table in affinity. I have tried to use Place which correctly imports the .xlsx file as a table. The problem is that these usually have too many rows and there is no easy way to reflow it across pages. The next idea was to setup the table the way I want it to look in Publisher then paste the data into it. According to a post I found here on the forum I should be able to select the cells I want to paste into the table in the spreadsheet, then simply select at least two cells in the table in Publisher and paste which is supposed to make the data from the clipboard flow into the right columns and rows in the table in Publisher. Now this kind of works some times? It seems to work when I copy and paste from Microsoft Excel specifically, but copy-pasting from the same .xlsx file open in LibreOffice, Collabora or Google Sheets does not work. In these cases everything ends up in the first cell I had selected in the table. I didn't find the solution to it until I installed a trial of Microsoft Excel and before I was experiencing the problem with everything in one cell. I usually make custom layouts with linked text frames and don't use the table function very often, so this is not super urgent, however, in some situation with lists and schedules it would be nice to have the ability to "crop" a table frame and reflow it elsewhere. This would make the ability to copy/paste from other programs than Microsoft Excel redundant as I could just save the files as .xlsx Anywho, thanks for a sweet alternative to the adobe mafia ❤️
  2. Thanks, I don't use Google but site search is a helpful tip for the future. That being said, it would make sense to have information on how to set language for text in the spelling section of the docs, no?
  3. Found what I was looking for in the Text style options! --- Would be nice to add a reference to this in the documentation under the Spelling heading, only reference is to changing the related settings in General: https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Text/spelling.html?title=Spelling Searching the documentation for "Spelling" or "Language" only references these pages: or 😄
  4. Hi, I needed to add some custom dictionaries and have now done so following the help available on this forum, archived here: https://web.archive.org/web/20230209141556/https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98911-how-do-i-add-additional-dictionaries-to-affinity-publisher/ This guides uses hunspell dictionaries from LibreOffice's git repo, unlike the official docs that link to a broken OpenOffice website which takes you around in circles. Perhaps it would be good to update the official docs to this, seeing as the user experience of navigating Apache OpenOffice's website is atrocious, but I digress. I have updated the settings in auto-correct etc, however there are bits of text that have been copied into the document that carry the localization settings of my desktop, namely en_NL which lacks any hunspell dictionaries. How do I change the language of text already existing in the document? I prefer to have my interface, whether the OS or a specific program, in English but have to regularly work with documents in different languages, which brings me to my second question. Is there a way to set the spell checker to different languages on a document basis, possibly even on a page or paragraph basis? This would be preferable to setting it for the whole program as I switch between different projects in different languages a lot. Currently I'm working on a project in sv_SE and one in en_US but looking ahead I an see encountering projects that have different languages in different paragraphs and/or pages. Other than that I really like this program, keep up the good work!
