  1. @DWright Here's a video showing how to reproduce the bug: Later in the video I compare it to the Bevel Layer Effect to demonstrate how that one works perfectly as intended. While the 3D Layer Effect just glitches instead. @Old Bruce it's funny because when I was researching this topic to figure out what was wrong — most threads about it had you in them explaining to others how Fill Opacity works 🙃
  2. Applying a 3D Layer Effect and setting that layer's "fill opacity" to zero will show a black opaque fill instead of the expected transparent fill. The bug only happens with the 3D Layer Effect in particular, the other Layer Effects works fine. In this screenshot I have a very basic setup. A brand new document. Added a simple circle with just a default 3D Layer Effect applied. Upon setting the "Fill opacity" to zero. This is the output: (the fill becomes black but is still opaque) The expected result for setting fill opacity to zero would have been this: (the fill becomes transparent) The above screenshot was faked by using a background image that looks like the checkered texture from a transparent background, but the background isn't actually transparent. This works because the bug only happens when the 3D Layer Effect is on top of a transparent background. If the 3D Layer Effect is on top of a regular opaque layer, then the 3D Layer Effect works just fine as expected. Additionally, any other value for fill opacity from 1% to 99% will look fully opaque as of it were at 100%. It will look just like the first screenshot. All other Layer Effects works just as fine as expected on top of a transparent background. The problem seems to be only with the 3D Layer Effect. For example, here's a screenshot of the same experiment using the Bevel Layer Effect with zero Fill Opacity: (it works as expected, no black opaque fill) Reproduced on both Designer v2.3.0 and Photo v2.3.0 On windows. I've attached a file used above, opacitytest.afdesign where this bug can be observed. opacitytest.afdesign
  3. In Affinity Designer 1, when you group layers you would get a preview of how that group looks like in the layers panel. In Affinity Designer 2, that layer preview is replaced by a folder icon. So we cannot quickly glance at what that layer looks like. Did we lose that preview completely or is there some setting to show it again that I couldn't find?
  4. Hello, I wonder if there's a hotkey or a way to configure a hotkey for the "export slices" button in the Export Persona in Designer? Right now I have to click the button with the mouse every time I need to export my design. I've tried searching on Preferences -> Shortcuts -> Persona, but couldn't find anything. The File -> Export button does have a shortcut (ctrl+alt+shit+S), but that doesn't export the slices. Since setting up slices you end up never using regular export again. Checking "Continuous" would eliminate the need for a hotkey. But I can't use it since the continuous deployment is way too overzealous and exports at every tiny accidental change even without even saving the design. I can't have that.
  5. Thanks @Dan C for the report and the workaround. I've been using mask layers as a workaround instead. That provides the same end effect while letting me keep the anti-aliasing. But it's nice to have more options, thanks!
  6. 1 - add any new object 2 - set any opaque fill color 3 - go to the appearance tab 4 - add a new fill 5 - set this new also as an opaque, set its mode to "Erase" The new object will now be transparent. As intended. But will also show a 1 pixel outline around it (regardless of zoom level). The erase fill doesn't need to be fully opaque for the bug to happen, but doing so makes it more easy to spot. I initially noticed the bug when doing a gradient fill with erase mode to gradually make only parts of the object transparent. Attached bellow are an image showing the bug and the .affinity file used to demonstrate the bug. On the image you can see an elipse with the outline and you can see the appearance setup on the left that caused the bug. (Ps: I noticed the pinned thread about outline on transparent objects caused by snapping candidates. This is not related to that. This outline with erase mode will persist in any snapping options. And most importantly, the outline will still be rendered with an exported .png) affbug02.afdesign
  7. While it's awkward that search can't search for anything "by design". But I'm glad that there's a plan for eventually be able to use search to.. search for something Thanks @Dan C!
  8. Open the Preferences window. Type anything whatsoever on the search bar. Nothing happens. It doesn't really searches for anything and doesn't show you for anything. For example, if you wanna search for where the hotkey for the Grid and Axis manager. Try typing "grid" on the search bar. And nothing shows up. Attached screenshot shows me typing "grid" on the search bar. Using Affinity Designer 1.10.5.1342 on Windows 10.
