  1. All righty then! I am going to check those all out for sure tomorrow! I don't know of any fellow Catholic parishioners that have pearls instead of beads on their Rosary. Maybe some do but they keep them to themselves 🙂
  2. Thanks. I did search for beads but I thought I could do them myself in Affinity Designer. I could not find any web pages on how to do that.
  3. Hi, Yes, I want to make a rosary. Any suggestions how I can come up with good looking colored "glossy" beads, maybe with a highlight on them (like the light was coming from a certain direction - whatever makes them sort of realistic). And a chain to connect them. I assume making both a stamp would be a good idea. Here is one idea in addition to starting from scratch - I have some items from Artifex Forge that I could use: Stained Glass and Mosaic. Jeremy seems like such a nice guy, very talented, and certainly has carved a unique niche for himself! Any ideas? Thanks!
  4. Hi, Do they actually enhance an image better than using APhoto itself? Like Topaz Labs products (DeNoise or SharpenAI) or ON-1's NoNoise? My current camera does not save as a RAW file, just JPG. I realize that ON-1s is really meant to be used on RAW files but will enhance JPGs. Just curious. Thanks!
  5. That's all right. I can't tell what format by the description: Classic A3 Newspaper Template | Creative InDesign Templates ~ Creative Market I've never used a template before. I take that back. I did buy a restaurant menu APub one way back when to see if I could learn anything from it but it had no master pages, etc... I think it was just a port from InDesign. I could do it from scratch or use ArtiFex Forge's Vintage Newspaper if she needs something like that. Thanks!
  6. Hi, If I purchase a template that is for InDesign, what can I do with it in Affinity Designer or Publisher? Treat it like an Affinity file and make any edits I want to it? Just curious. I found something I like at Creative Market for a quick project for a relative.
  7. I guess if it was possible it would have been done already since that would be a great selling point!
  8. Really? Are you pulling my leg? 🙂 I guess this doesn't surprise me! I will try both of your suggestions. Another thought I have is to do a signature or something that would be in color (I just bought a color Epson Inkjet Printer/Scanner). There must be fancy scanners that would have the option for a transparent background, right?
  9. Hi, It would be fantastic if the scanner on my printer would scan or copy an image and make it with a transparent background but I don't think it does. If I doodled something or wrote something on a piece of white copy paper, is there a best way to start off making the image transparent in AD or APh? There would be lots of nooks and cranny's, especially if I wrote some text. -fp
  10. FYI, here is a short play-by-play of what I ended up doing to get my card done: -I imported last year's PDF from my local printer into Affinity Publisher. That gave me the measurements and the layout. 11"x4". -I dragged a vertical ruler to the 50 yard line (center of the field) -Replaced last year's images with the new ones, etc.... -Sent it off to the printer and they said it was fine. They told me I didn't have to make any changes and I had my cards in about an hour. Here's the thing: This year's PDF that I sent to our printer contained images that were all upright. They told me all they did was to print double-sided When I did that at home, the inside pictures were inverted when I printed out the PDF So I inverted those inside images, making them upside down. It worked! I attached a summary of the layout in Publisher format and the PDF. Was the printer mistaken when she told me they didn't have to do anything? Or is there a difference when printing on a home/Windows printer? Anyway, the cards look great and now I am signing them and mailing them out in time for Christmas (I hope!). Thanks everyone and Merry Christmas! CardLayoutInverted.afpub CardLayoutInverted.pdf
  11. You are right! More green, than yellow. The globe turned out good from the printer but now I know for the next time I want to enhance anything like that. Thanks FD!
  12. Hello again, For future reference, the scan of the image didn't turn out as gray as it looks on the toned gray paper. It ended up looking a little yellow. Any ideas how I could have made the snow globe look more gray like it does on the paper? I only used a 4B pencil and white acrylic stick (except for the little colored pencil lights).
  13. Hi, I decided to have the printer use white linen for the card. Too late to use all of your suggestions as I had to send it off to get them printed in time to send them out. Thanks for all of the lessons! I learned a lot and I am sure everything will come in handy the next time I use toned gray paper and need to scan or copy it for something! I am going to print out this thread and keep it for reference.
  14. What a great resource the second link is! I have learned a lot from affinity revolution and the Udemy courses I bought. And the Affinity workbooks are good but there isn't anything in the Publisher book or the Affinity tutorials that I have noticed specify how to set up a Publisher document for something as simple as I want to do. I guess it is so easy that it is over my head:-)
  15. Hi, I will study and go through How to Create a Greeting Card Template in Affinity Designer (tutsplus.com) again, but I would rather use Publisher and I need to have content on all four pages (front, inside 1, inside 2, back). It didn't look like the tutorial did that. And I will have to change the size, of course. Thanks
  16. Well, that was a good exercise for me using the selection brush tool to cut out an image from the background. I did that so I could paste it into another file with a transparent background. But as usual during the night, I miss a lot of sleep because I am always thinking and remembering 🙂 I just remembered a free on-line app to make backgrounds transparent. onlimeimagetools.com Just drag and drop an image, click a button and voila! Much easier than Gimp, LunaPic, Affinity Designer or Photo!
  17. H Hi, Is it the same for Designer as for Publisher? I think the process would be somehow different when setting up the document. I will check it out. Thanks! -wp
  18. All right. Maybe that thread is somehow helping me and I do not know it, but what I want to do is create a card in Affinity Publisher (preferably not Designer as most articles and videos that I have found are using it) that is about 5 inches wide and 4 inches tall. That is what my local printer used for our Christmas card last year. And she had envelopes for it that fit great. It is going to fold in the middle and I want to be able to have content on each page/section. Attached is the PDF from them from last year. It is 4.25x5.5" I think they want the standard bleed (.125) if I remember correctly. This stuff makes my brain hurt like the math word games did in school (if two vehicles were traveling...._ 🙂 -paulw 2020PeanutsChristmasCard.pdf
  19. Gosh, I should have known that being a Windows user for years. I have done that many times! There I go again. Trying to make something more difficult than something should be!!! Thanks! That worked great. -paulw
