Hello, everyone!
i am trying to record a macro, but i am having a hard time doing it.
Basically i would like to add halation to an image and the steps are as follows:
- duplicate the image
- add a threshold adjustment
- add a gaussian blur to aforementioned threshold
- add a red fill layer, set its blend mode to linear burn
- add a curve
- group layers from the above steps, change group blend mode to screen.
i can get all the way to the last step , obviously, but when i try to select the layers to group, Affinity does not allow me.
am i doing something wrong ?
thanks!

No problem at all
As I understand it, this file is larger than other .propcol files as it will store your imported LUT files, as well as the info used to generate thumbnails shown in the Adjustments Studio for your presets etc.
good to know, thanks. does this mean that if i copy it i will also import the luts?

@DanC thank you!!
Edit: i just navigated there and there is a file called adjustments which is 571 Mb . the others are very small instead. this piqued my curiosity:what's inside that file to make it so big?

hi @DanC
i am using V2, purchased from the affinity store, i run ventura on both machines.

none of the cases you get back from the search apply.

hello,everyone!
i have been using afphoto on my desktop mac for a couple of years, now, and i have some preferences set to my taste (mousewheel to zoom for example.)i now bought a laptop and i would like to set it in the same way...i don't even remember what i did change, though.
i could comb the preference menus and change the differences, but i was wondering if there is a faster way by transferring some preference file .
Any idea? thanks

Yes, but maxegb is correct when he/she/they/? says v2 differs from v1. In the case of adding a new mask to an adjustment that is not itself mask-nested in something, the outcome is different in v1 versus v2.
for what it's worth, it's "he". Thanks for confirming.

I still have AP V1 installed & the add mask to selection option (called 'add as child layer' in that version) does not work for adjustment layers there either, so in that respect both V1 & V2 behave the same, which is probably a bug.
i do not have it anymore, so i will take your word for it. but being that i developed the habit of doing it without dragging anything, i think it was working. If not i would not find strange the actual behaviour. Unfortunately , i cannot check.

Yes, the add mask to selection option does not work on adjustment layers, which is probably an unfixed bug inherited from V1, but as a workaround you can manually drag the mask layer onto the adjustment layer to nest it into it.
To apply a mask to several adjustment layers, instead of copying it to each of them, you can group the adjustment layers & add the mask to the group.
I can in V2 on my Mac. are you saying that does not work for you?
As far as i remember, you could add a mask to an adjustment layer on V1 with no problems at all.
thanks for the grouping tip. i will try.
of course i can drag a mask. it was in my original post. i was just being sarcastic on the reply, i think it missed the point a little bit.

@maxegb No, it unfortunately does not. The bug is still there. A screesshot of my assistant ssettings is attached. Mask layer settings are set to "Add mask layer according to selection", but the mask will be added on top of the adjustment layer. It will not be nested.
(I have all recent Affinity updates and Windows updates un my machine.)
@NathanC , i have been quoted and replied to instead of you.

Oh really, you can drag a mask? really?
would you like to come back on the topic when you actually read it, maybe? :-D

I just use the built in masks on the Adjustment and Live Filter layers.
which is doable if you have only 1 adjustment layer. but if you have more than one (say a curve and an HSL for example) and you want to mask a part of them, it makes much more sense to add a mask on the first adjustment, paint the mask and then copy it to the next adj. layer. With version 1 it was possible to nest the mask directly. on version 2 it seems that if i select an adjustment and then i mask, the mask appears on the top. No big deal, but still...

As previously mentioned, in the Assistant Manager, there are separate options for adding adjustment layers to selections & for adding mask layers to selections. It sounds like you have one set to add as a new layer & the other not.
i don't want to add an adjustment layer to a selection. i want to add a mask to an adjustment layer. I think i cannot find it.

Hey @Atenni @Hlouwby apologies on the late reply,
Are you still experiencing problems with this as of the latest update (v2.0.4), if you are, could you perhaps provide a screenshot of what your assistant settings are set to?
So long as 'Adding mask layer to selection' is set to 'Add mask based on selection' in the assistant options it should automatically nest the layer based on the currently active selection in the layers panel.
i checked : if i add a mask to a pixel layer, it gets nested. if i select an adjustment layer, it gets on top as a new layer.

Could you please explain how you do this, while keeping your separate mask from affecting everything else too?
So you put the adjustment later into a group, then put the mask above that in the group? Or do you drop an empty pixel layer onto the thumbnail of the adjustment layer (short, vertical, blue drop-zone, in V1)?
make an adjustment (say, an hsv adjustment)
click on it to select it, click on the mask key. the mask is now added as a child of the adjustment. Paint on the mask and not on the adjustment as you see fit.
click on the mask and copy it.
apply another adjustment (curve). click to select, paste the mask.

luts seem to be working in macos, they did't in v1. this is very useful
-
i do not know about v2,but in v1 if i wanted to use the same mask for multiple adjustments i always put a mask on it instead of painting directly on the adjustment. that mask can be duplicated and reused.

My settings are the same, but the problem still occurs.
did you disable the assistant? if the assistant is off,it doesn't work
-
yes, thanks, i read them more carefully. now it works as i was accustomed to. I honestly did not know that mask behaviour was an assistant action and not a "standard" feature.

this is something i can't understand. In V1 if i clicked on a pixel layer and then clicked on a mask, the mask was a child (is this correct?) of that layer. In V2 if i click on a layer and then i click on a mask, a mask appears on top of that layer. I can then drag it to the pixel layer, but it is "unpleasant" and time consuming.
Is there something i need to change?
EDIT: i checked the behaviour of live filters layers and it's the same. i click on a gaussian blur (to say) and it becomes a new layer on top of the selected pixel layer, not a child of that layer.
-
no. it did work for luts, for example, but i have no gradient map or curves or black and white adjustments
-
hello all,
in V1 i have some saved "persets" in various adjustemts (my black and white settings, some tonemaps, etc.) Is there a way to transfer them to V2 without recreating them?
thanks!

i could not find the section of the video where there is a selection of multiple layers and a grouping of those ?
