italics from Word to Affinity Publisher

Thank you all so much! I did learn about importing as opposed to copy/paste, but completely forgot about it. I'll try that and the other suggestions.

And yet, just now, while working on a new book in Affinity, I was able to copy and paste while keeping the italics. It must be something in Word and not Affinity. If anyone knows what's going on with this, let me know.

This is a major flaw. I write and publish novels. I write in a writing program and edit it Word. When I paste my Word doc into Affinity Publisher, all of my italics are lost. Can you imagine what a headache it is for me to scan a 400-page novel in Word for every italicized word and then find it in Affinity Publisher? I might as well go back to formatting in Word.
