Hi, I’ve already purchased Publisher and Photo and I’m a few weeks into my designer trial. Even so, I still don’t understand the differences between Pen and Pencil. I can see that one gets different results from each, but, I need a high-level explanation of the intent of each. The Help files have a short, blurb about both, but no contrasting between them. Its the only place, so far, that I’ve been disappointed with the Affinity Help Files. I’ve watched a number of tutorials, both serif’s and independently sourced. They all were great! Hi, Can someone please explain the difference between the Pen tool and the pencil tool and why one would use one over the other? And, are these tools the same on all three affinity apps?

It took my a while, even with the help of tutorials to realize that text-on-a-curve works by adding artistic text from the keyboard to an already existing curve. My question is: can one add already existing text to a curve (eg, using copy/paste)?

Patrick, Thank you (and all the others who responded) for your reply(s) and insight. I was a Serif customer for many years, way before Affinity, back in the early days of the *-plus series version 3s and before. Serif always treated us right back then, so, see no reason tp stop trusting them (you) now. I expect I'll go ahead and buy the other affinity products "just because”. I did love Page/ Draw/Photo/3D/Impact/Album/etc, - Plus programs, but, now that I’ve switched to Mac and no longer have access to them. I'm glad to be able to get back to the Affinity products & the Serif company! Glad to see you’re still at Serif, Chuck

Thanks for your reply andinfo. Any idea what the Major upgrade fee might be?? I don’t really need designer or photo at this moment, so I’m trying to determine whether to buy the current version at half price and upgrade or just wait for version 2 to come out. . .

Hi, I’ve purchased and installed Affinity publisher and I’m thinking about getting the others. I noticed that the “major upgrade" to 1.9 is free. What is the upgrade policy for “major version upgrades” e.g. to 2.0, 3.x, etc? Thanks, Chuck

Awwww, shucks and thanks for the welcome. Are you aware of any (preferably free) apps available at the Mac app store that CAN batch convert wmf to other image formats? I’ve tried a few but most seem to not work. . .

I have the same question, but for .wmf files. Can any of the affinity programs do a batch convert of (say) .wmf to .svg?
