  2. Thanks for the response! In fact, the selected layer is NOT part of a group, it is a discrete layer. The blue bounding box correctly encompasses the selected layer, but the toolbox references the shape and size of the background layer. I can upload a couple of screenshots...   3. Selecting a layer does indeed select that layer but the SHAPE of the selection is that of the largest item in the layer list - in this case the lowest item in the list, which is the background. So, as the background is much larger than the selected layer, I have to zoom out to a ludicrous degree in order to see the effect of my required rotation or scaling. Any thoughts?
