Solved it. Right - click over the Icon that launches the program. Select "Run as administrator" Accept the change in the next dialog box. Viola! Opens.

Last week my hard drive failed and I have reinstalled all my previous software from Affinity and activated it. Today when I attempt to open a previous Affinity Designer file, this error pops up: "You don't have permission to open this file" Help! How do I access my work? Please delete. Found my answer here: Had to place an image, then convert to curves to add the style. I don't recall doing that before, but it worked today. Thank you.

Prior to today I was able to create a new style category and add new styles to it using the "add style from selection". Designer -Version: 1.9.1.979; Operating System: Windows 10 Process: 1. Open jpg. 2. Unlock the layer 3. Select the layer 4. In Styles panel, select the newly created category 5. Right click on selection and choose: "Create Style". Result: the style does not get created in the new category or in any of the other pre-existing cateory. 6. Then, I tried selecting "Add style from Selection". Still, no style was created. What am I doing wrong? I've been able to add dozens of styles prior to now. This is the first time I've tried to add a style since the update to the 1.9.1.979 version. Thanks for the help.
