  1. Good. Obviously this isn't a high priority but I definitely think it should happen. Glad to see that you are of the same mindset.
  2. I would be interested to hear TonB's thoughts. on the discounts 2 things, they would have to offer the discounts to everyone and as you said above people might miss them.
  3. Its not exactly trivial to get a distribution system going. so having one in place is a good idea. and regardless even if the MAS never has an issue again, theyll still make more money from direct sales and also have the potential to do things like upgrade pricing and educational discounts that apple doesn't allow.
  4. I wouldn't count on it. In fact I'd wager money against it. Look at the iOS appstore its barely better and it makes way more money and is the ONLY way to get apps on that platform. I'd like to see my favorite applications have a fallback plan in case of disaster. Im interested to hear from the affinity team, curious about their thoughts on it.
  5. I guess I should have said this more clearly my intention would be for this to run similar to omnigroup i.e. Have a MAS version AND a direct sales version. I am not advocating giving up the MAS. Additionally MAS actually slows down updates because they have to go through apple. @MBd I understand that they might not have the capacity to administrate a store which is why I suggested they work with Omni who has an entire system that works really well Bc I am fairly sure omni would be able to take a cut of less than 30% and still make plenty to make the arrangement beneficial for themselves. Also the certificate issue did not affect my affinity products no, it may have for someone else, regardless should apply screw so,etching else up there is nothing affinity can do
  6. If they wanted to talk about this that's fine but the appropriate place was feature requests not questions :p
  7. I agree whole-heartedly. This and taking on enough to where you can finish but not do anything well.
  8. It is most certainly a bug. I would recommend starting a thread in the bugs section of the forums and link to this thread. Additionally an affinity staff member should have commented on this thread...
  9. I think it would be in Affinity's best interest to create versions of their apps that available to download directly from affinity instead of through the MAS. Amongst the many issues are the recent verification issues (http://techcrunch.com/2015/11/18/apple-acknowledges-mac-app-store-issue-that-caused-apps-to-stop-working-details-fixes/) Additionally Affinity will make more money via direct sales because Apple no longer gets a 30% cut. For more on why the MAS isn't as good as it seems (from big mac fans no less): http://www.macworld.com/article/3002141/software/the-mac-app-store-with-convenience-comes-several-compromises.html http://atp.fm/episodes/144- Specifically the Mac App Store certificate problems Section though the whole show is great Finally, for reference, the hands down best installer I have seen for a mac is the one Omnigroup developed for their applications, perhaps they would be willing to workout a deal with Affinity to handle it for them. https://www.omnigroup.comI have long been a fan of them and they actually come from a consulting background i.e. they used to write software for other companies and then organically ended up selling their own stuff so I think they would be open to it.
  10. This isn't quite what you guys are asking for but a great overview of photo editing in general http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/photo-editing-tutorials.htm
  11. They are working hard. and if they want to be really successful they will continue to do so for a long time.
  12. I agree with MBd, and again with my photoshop example, that has been the defacto standard for 20 years and yet there are reasons to switch to AP, so even another 3 years wouldn't destroy publisher (certainly won't help) however rushing a premature product will destroy it, you only get 1 first impression.
  13. Just a friendly FYI, the correct place for this would be questions. :)
  14. Agreed. I want them both yesterday... Keep up the good work Affinity devs and we'll keep anxiously waiting :p
  15. I am doubtful they used publisher for the magazine because as MBd mentioned then they could probably go to beta with what they have, additionally when competing with someone it is a good idea to have their product so that you can learn from it and Im sure affinity is smart enough for that. Finally look how long photoshop has been around, heck the name is the verb for what it does!! and people are switching to AP so I don't think the window will close on publisher however the sooner they get it out the better for sure.
  16. I think its less about simple fast than it is about not buggy, as an embedded systems developer I speak from experience that getting code to be robust and reliable is always harder than you think and takes longer than expected. Additionally I had a feeling that the DAM would always take longer than the other programs because its core functionality wont be relying on the same backend as the other 3 programs which they spent years developing and then are re-using most if not all of the backend between all three of the primary apps.
  17. This is probably close to the truth and makes sense if we believe they are spending more time on photo and designer than they expected.
  18. seeing as there was never an official date for the beta im not sure it qualifies as a delay... but I agree it is a bummer... I think its because they are putting more follow up work into designer and photo than they were planning on?
  19. As this is an Affinity forum youll probably find nothing but support for it :) I am in that camp. I have both of their products and am new to both vector design and photo editing. I like both programs very much and while I am nowhere near pushing affinity to its limits I can definitely see and feel the extra power it has over pixelmator. I still have pixelmator on my machine but dont really use it. another thing affinity has going for it are the excellent tutorials which you will find here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10119-in-house-affinity-photo-video-tutorials/
  20. Im going to assume that the built in display is the one that looks correct right?
  21. Good News is that it appears the data isnt getting ruined just looks funky, Just to check what model/brand are each monitor, which mac and os x version do you have? dev will need this info
