Many thanks, that did it. Just one little icon changes so much for me. But why none of the options under the magneting snapping toggle is doing the trick is beyond me. On a sidenote I am using the german version, there it doesn't say "snap" in front of the icon, but "Ausrichten", which is not really a perfectly fitting translation. But I am really grateful for your quick and perfect solution. Thanks again.

Hello I am not able to have the same snapping functionality in V2 as I am used to from V1. I tried various settings, but it still do not work as I need it to. I am making shapes to fit my bikes when plotted out from protective film. I do this mainly by starting from an rectangle, fleshing out the form by adding points and moving these so that they fit my measurements. Now I need those points to snap on simple axis-positions that other points from the same shape are located. But V2 doesn't do it. I tried to show the problem in the following screenshot. The point on the bottom left should snap at the vertical position of the bottom right point, so on the horizontal line grey line I drew in there.

Designer | expand stroke not working reliable
toreador replied to toreador's topic in Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Not that I know of. The logo was provided on the web as svg. I then made some changes to the shape, as it should be placed exactly over the existing decals of a bike (plotted vinyl in a different color than stock). But exactly in the area where the problem point was, I actually added and edited points manually in Affinity Designer. What I also tried in between was to copy the logo in the form as uploaded here to the clipboard and paste it onto a new worksheet in Designer. There suddenly "expand stroke" worked. Pasting it back into the original worksheet, however, "expand stroke" again did not work. Yes, I could have carried out the action on the other worksheet and pasted the finished logo back, but I constantly have to adjust the outline thickness in the process and this would have been too tedious for me, especially as I found the situation to be a hair-raising experience. -

Designer | expand stroke not working reliable

Unbelievable - thank you very much! How did you identify this as the cause of the problem? -
Hello Once again I have stumbled across a hair-raising problem in Affinity Designer. I would like to make a logo consisting of 3 letters a little thicker using an outline. If I do this via "Layer > Expand Stroke", this works as desired for 2 letters, but not for the middle one, the "M". The outline simply disappears there. I just don't understand this absolutely inconsistent way of working in this software. Can someone please help me and explain what the problem is? The file is attached. error.afdesign

Hello everyone, I have been using Designer V1 for a long time and switched to V2 as soon as it was released. For a current project, in which I want to populate a tree graphic with individual leaves, I would like to do this conveniently using vector brushes. So I created a tree-leaf as a monochrome vector, exported it as a png and created a brush from it. Now I want the leaf to rotate randomly and change its size when using the brush. However, the necessary options are missing when creating the vector brush. In the Pixel Persona I can make all the desired settings, via size and rotation jitter as well as x- and y-scatter, but of course I only get pixel graphics. Am I missing something? Is it possible to create such randomly changing vector brushes? In Adobe Illustrator, for example, this seems to be possible. Thank you very much, Dan Designer Persona: Pixel-Persona:

toreador reacted to a post in a topic: Designer svg export does not store the correct size

Hello! I am getting extremely frustrated with Affinity Designer and Silhouette Studio, as the designs I export as svg from Designer don't have the correct size when importing them in Silhouette Studio (they import tiny). When doing the same workflow from Adobe Illustrator it works perfectly fine, and the designs after importing them into Silhouette are sized EXACTLY the same as in Illustrator. I stumbled upon this several month ago and thought this might be a bug in Designer, but now several updates later it's still the same lousy behaviour. Any tips or info if there is worked on?
