HDR seems to work fine on my M1 Mac Mini using macOS Ventura using the sample old window from the Affinity Photo text book. Would it be possible to upload your source images or have you tried this example. The images are located at https://affin.co/hdr.

PS: It is very easy to screen record on a Mac rather than using your phone, simply press SHIFT-COMMAND 5.

Here is my screen recording.  I am on a mac bookpro M1 max 2021 runing on ventura.

The difference between you and me in the process is taht you start with jpeg and I start with raw image. I think the problem lays there as your pictures are already compress before you do the HDR process.

Did you do the Tone Mapping step? You likely have too wide a range of colours in your HDR image for use in a jpg.

I open the 5 file as "new HDR merge" then the computer do its thing (the tone maping HDR is ticked). Once it is done I land on the tone mapping persona. From that I adjust my contrasts, exposure, and so on. Then I click apply and I land on the phot persona. It is when I export the picture that the highlights become blown out. On the exported Jpeg and not on the photo on the photo persona.

    Hi @jean denis,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

I can confirm that according to our RAW support list, support for this camera has been recently added ("EOS R5 (new)") - so there may be an unknown bug with this format:

Could you please supply a copy of the RAW file here for me?

What leads you to believe the WB slider should be at 5600k? This may be confusion of how the WB slider in Affinity works, I have covered this previously here -

Hi here is the raw file form my R5. regarding the WB 5600° should be neutral daylight but when I set my WB on my camera to 5600 and my strobes are at 5600k, affinity gives me 4844° and when I set it to 5600° on Affinity it very yellow and the tint is off as well (see screen shot attached)

I can confirm that on iPad we use the Apple Core RAW engine, which is built into iPad OS for RAW support in Affinity.

However on the desktop we use a mix of LibRAW and our own library for RAW support in Affinity.

When new cameras are released, in order for Affinity to support them on the iPad, Apple need to add support through their Core RAW engine.

In order for us to add support on the desktop, either LibRAW needs to update to support them, or our developers need direct contact with the camera manufacturer to help the development stage with these new RAW files.

I can confirm that unfortunately neither Apple, nor LibRAW have added support for these above mentioned models yet - and we equally we have not been provided the required information direct from Canon to be able to develop these images.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks a lot it is very clear.

Thank you, but do not have PS or Adobe dng convertor. I bought AP not to pay for Adobe products. For the moment I try to solve this with Canon Digital Photo Professional version 4.12. which can handle these files in RAW, too. You can also download it from Canon if you give your serial number. But I DO HOPE AP WILL UPDATE VERY SOON!

I am like you I don’t have PS, my point was that PS as already updated their software so AP need to do so now.
the way I am going around is use adobe dng convertor which is free as a beta version then use that dng to open it in AP

Hi, I join with the question: R5 and R6 launched at the same time, I have R6 and have the same problem. When do you plan to include them into AP support? Do you plan to include the RF lens of Canon, too? If yes, when?

Photoshop already support this format and adobe dng convertor manager the convertion from cr3 to dng. For the moment this is what i use to be able to process the files in AP and slowing done the work flow a lot!
