  1. Thank you @Ldina, @Dave.Kelly and @thomaso for your detailed and helpful responses. You've each given me a few options to explore and some things to consider. And you've confirmed there is no one approach ... and by the look of things, no simple method for round-tripping. I want to stick with Lightroom as my DAM for as long as I can access the program, or until Affinity come up with their own. And prompted by my posting and your replies I checked out a few other references - most usefully, Robin Whalley's little book on the library function in LR. He has also given me a few options based on synching AFP files back into the LR catalogue. Clearly, I have some work to do to design a workflow that suits me, just as each of your suggestions suits your working styles. Many thanks. Albert
  2. Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere in the forum. I drew several blanks in my searches. I'm not a naturally organised person so wonder if community members might share how they organise their files when round tripping between Lightroom and Affinity Photo. I import all my images from card into Lightroom. These are saved on a separate hard drive with a back up on a second drive. Organised in Year, date structure. When it comes to editing, I may or may not do some edits in LR before transferring the image to AP for the real edits. Or sometimes, I will take the RAW file from the hard drive and import directly into AP. The edited image is then 'saved' in Affinity's format (to my desktop currently), and then 'exported' as a TIFF or JPEG (also onto the desktop) for printing if that is my end point. Do others use the same workflow? If so, where are you storing the edited images? Do you link them back to your original LR catalog? If not, how do you keep track of where the edited images are stored? Thanks for considering. Albert
  3. Hi MEB Thank you for picking up this thread again and for letting me know the status of the problem. I have the clippings issue on two separate Macs - but both 2012 vintage! My Mac mini has the Intel HD 4000 1536 MB graphics card that you identify. The iMac, which partially displays the same problem - showing highlights and tonal clippings but not shadows - has an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512MB card. In response to another thread, NotMyFault suggested turning off metal in the performance tab. This does appear to be an effective workaround on the Mac Mini, but not the iMac, which wasn't running metal in the first place. I'm just beginning to turn my mind to upgrading the mini to the M1 version, so perhaps that will sort out the issue, at least for me. Cheers Albert
  4. It does! I'd read in another post that this might cause other problems, but none so far, and for the moment, it's more important for me to deal with the clippings. Thank you NotMy Fault for the prompt reply at what must be a rather early start for you. Albert
  5. Can I reopen this thread as I have encountered the same problem? In my case none of the clipping warnings display. I managed to get the shadow warnings to display once using the curves adjustment but haven't been able to recreate that success. The blown highlights occasionally display as transparent areas (with the grey chequerboard scheme showing through. I'm using a Mac mini (old) and High Sierra ... could that be the problem? Restarting the Mac doesn't work. Reloading the image doesn't work. Opening new images down't work - neither my own or RAW files posted by various internet tutors. Curiously, on my similar vintage iMac with the same MacOS, I get the highlight and tones warnings but not the shadows. I'm at a loss. Cheers Albert
  6. Has this been sorted yet ... I suspect that I am getting the same issue (on mac using high sierra) as the clipping tones are not apparent.
  7. I wanted to download a fresh copy of Affinity Photo to a new computer. Navigated my way to the downloads page in my account, and all the software is there but no visible download button. Logged into my account on my lap top and all OK, so having seen where the download button should be, back to the desk top with the problem, hovered the mouse over the spot and the cursor changed indicating I was good to download. Clicked and the program is downloading but the button is still invisible. Wierd, but posting this as I could not find anything quickly on the forum to help me originally.
