Same with me. The blur tool is virtually useless in 1.9. The Blur tool is actually transparent when OpenCl is on and when OpenCl is off the blur tool looks normal but useless. Revised: I used the blur tool again in a different image and it worked fine if OpenCl is turned off.

Some additional information you might be interested in: When I used the Highlight/shadow sliders in 1.8.5 I quite often went to +50% for shadows and -50% for highlights to start my development. In 1.9 the shadows at +10% is nearly over the top in comparison and highlights at -60% is barely noticeable. Revised Feb 24: The above information is for having the OpenCl turned on in version 1.9 but with OpenCl turned off the Shadow/Highlight sliders in develop persona worked closer to the way it did in 1.8.5.

The Microsoft windows system splash window does not show up anymore unless it was moved somewhere else I cannot find it. I click and drag a CR2 file from my folder (Win 10) into Affinity Photo and it automatically opens the Develop Persona. I do my usual development as I used to do in 1.8.5 and press apply. Then it is a very slow development and I see this effect happening and stop where you see it now in my attached image. I deleted the file and started again the same way and it was successful a second time but very very slow development compared to 1.8.5 where it was instant. It happened identically to other images also. Here is the raw file. Other strange things since the 20H2 upgrade: I often have to double click twice (or click twice) to open a file or site like Flickr, Instagram, I had to upload this CR2 file twice before it actually uploaded. 2021-02-13-0010.CR2

Same with me I deleted the file and re-developed it again and it is fine. This new set of pictures are the first pictures I am developing in 1.9 (not beta). Everyone so far had to be redeveloped a second time. Anything I am supposed to do? By the way the same with some brushes. I have to toggle a few steps in my painting to get the brush to work as it uses to in 1.85

This is a good question. The arrows do show which layers are linked. By the way if I dropped the linked adjustments layers on the thumbnail they are still linked but we do not see "Is Linked" icon aka "chain link".

Found it: My linked pixel layers show the "chain link" aka "Is Linked" icon. You have to link the adjustments layers before you reposition them to their respective element layers. The adjustments layers have to be reposition as a clipping mask by dropping them on the text not the thumbnail. This will show the "chain link" (Is Linked icon) That was the finer point in JR's video. By the way Walt the screenshot would not show anything. there was no "chain link"

Windows 10 latest update. Adjustment layers clipped to element layer as per JR on his video. Links Panel show the linked attributes. Linked layers do not show "chain link" I just have to remember which adjustments layers were linked. No need for screenshot.

There is nothing in that box. I have no linked resources. "Is Linked" is Affinity terminology for the icon in the layers panel that show linked layers that share attributes.

Look at my tag. Of course I have, otherwise I would not ask the question.

Can someone help? I repaired the installation, no change. I uninstalled and reinstall twice, no change

Thank you for your reply Mark; What is the point of doing that? Might as well wait for the next version. But this raises more questions: What is this “to Wintab or not to Wintab”? Do we have to use Windows Ink now? What is the High precision thing? I never had problem with precision and never used Windows Ink unless I do not know what you mean by high precision. Would have I had to use Windows Inks to fix the issue I describe above? Would it be better for you to tell me what I need to run your app the way it is intended to be used? Win 10 – 1909 16 GB RAM Wacom Intuos 4 PTK640 Windows Ink off in Microsoft, AP app, and Wacom properties Mouse mode off I am an experience user from Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Serif Photo, Draw, and Page plus and now all Affinity apps and brushes. Issues: 1- Right of the start after installing 1.8.4 the clone brush was a mess by not selecting a source all the time making me press the alt key and pressing harder with the pen to select a source. The cursor was changing for an arrow and I could not see where to lay down the pen. And it was highlighting the file menu “File” and I had to repeat this to make it work. 2- The Inpainting brush was inconsistent and was working like the clone tool sometimes. 3- The cursor also disappeared in the panels. Had to restart the app every time. 4- The blur brush was even slower than in 1.8.3 which was annoying enough. 5- The HDR merge of 3 shots of the city (below) was ugly although not blurred but was not sharp. I had to redo it in 1.8.3 6- The selection tool whether Paint or Flood was very inaccurate removing the sky in the city picture (below) and the refine tool was useless leaving a wide white band even with 0% border that I spend hours erasing. I redid my work in 1.8.3 7- Composite of 3 pictures here: Sky with the moon, the city and the sailboat 8- I won’t bother to describe my frustration removing the background from the sailboat picture in 1.8.4; a tiff file from a scan. 9- On the plus side, the app did not crash before I uninstalled it and the cursor was precise when not disappearing. I did not want to find out what else did not work. So I would appreciate a comment from the staff and a notice of when it will be safe to install a new version. Thank you kindly
