  1. Can any one advise me please. I have downloaded many add ons to my Affinity designer software and put the downloads into a Affinity Download File on my Documents Folders. I know I can access this through Affinity by Open file, but is there a way to quickly get to my Affinity Download files within Affinity instead of having to search through my Document folders? Gordon
  2. Select the brush you require and it should work - You do need to Import the brushed to each module of Affinity.
  3. Jenn- the Frankentoon brushes need to be Imported on Designer. Then you use the Paint Brush Tool (B). Select the brush you require and audit should work.
  4. I have taken a coloured photo and turned it into B&W. When I go to print it shows the photo as a coloured image. It look perfectly B&W on my canvas - what have I done wrong? File attached. Lucy-B&W-01.afphoto
  5. Thanks guys - I am relieved that I am not losing my mind. Your explanation about old version software explains everything except of course why it was changed by the software engineers. Perhaps making a duplicate and filling the duplicate is the answer. Convert the blank shape to Text, then fill it with text then cover with coloured shape and group. At least there is a fix. Thanks for the input. I am pleased I did not buy the Books for Designer and Photo they must be well out of date. If Affinity software engineers are reading some of these posts - why did you change a perfectly good process?
  6. Hi firstdefence This does not work in my copy of Designer or Photo. When I make a shape and fill it with a colour - when I Convert to Text the shape loses it's colour. The same happens in Photo. Why does your software work differently to mine? I am using Version 1.8.3
  7. Hi Everyone Excuse me if this has been sent before - I sent it but could not see it in my timeline so have sent it again. I have now found the video. Go 10 minutes into the video and you see what I was trying to do. I now realise that this must have been with old software. I know it was done it Photo but I recognise that the tools work the same in Designer (at least the ones that are common). Please accept apology for my frustration yesterday and try and understand how I got myself into this misunderstanding. G13RL please don't give up on this enthusiastic novice who is on a steep learning curve. I am so relieved that I am not making stuff up that I think I have seen Ha Ha . Best regards to you all Gordon Affinity-10_Things_about_LAYERS__Affinity_Photo.mp4
  8. Hi everyone - I found the video. Go 10 minutes into the video and you will see Olivio demonstrate what I was trying to do yesterday.Making a speech bubble a text frame without duplicating it. I hope you can see why I was confused. It looked so easy on this video as you can see and I got myself frustrated because I could not do what it showed me. I now realise that this does not work on my latest software because this video was made with old software. Duh! Apology for my frustration yesterday - I have learned a big lesson. G13RL please try and understand this old in-experienced enthusiastic novice. Do not give up involving yourself in life. Best regards to you all Gordon Affinity-10_Things_about_LAYERS__Affinity_Photo.mp4
  9. I fully agree with jmwellborn please don't give up on us old novices. I would feel so alone without knowing there are people like you, who are prepared to help folks like me. I don't know about anyone else but the challenge of learning something new in your 70's is great - but I for one do get confused and need help often. It is challenging for me to get my head around some of the concepts of layers and stuff. I have, no I am having a wonderful interesting life, and that is because people like you have helped me along the way. Regards to you all Gordon
  10. Thanks everyone - I have been successful. I could not have done this without your help.
