  1. Are you familiar with the Canvas Rotation option in the Navigator Studio? It will allow you to rotate the image using two fingers without turning the iPad. When you are done, you can type in 0 to reset it.
  2. 1. Not sure why turning autorotate would benefit anyone unless you are using your iPad at a weird angle that keeps putting it into vertical mode. There’s no option for it in the app. 2. If you’re using an external keyboard, CMD-D will deselect. I don’t think there’s really a faster way to do it on the screen aside from tapping back to New and then tapping the screen outside of your selection. You can also select the shape tool, for instance, and then tap on the screen and it will do the same thing. Nothing while you are in Add mode that I know of. 3. There is currently not a way to change the default from New to Add. 4. If you go to the Navigator Studio and pin it using the icon on the top right of the studio (to keep it open while you are working), you can zoom into the photo and work on a small portion of it. Double tapping the thumbnail in the Navigator Studio will zoom you out to fit the entire image. When you double tap the thumbnail again, it will bring you back to the last view. In case you didn’t know, you can also slide up and down the actual Navigator Studio icon to zoom in and out. You just can’t zoom to exact values using this method.
  3. In this video, I continue working on the image I opened up as a RAW original. This time, I’m inside the Photo Persona crafting the final look. I cover the Inpainting tool, masking, reusing selections, blending a texture layer, using blend ranges, dodging and burning and using the High Pass tool for sharpening.
  4. Do you want to move beyond the confines of the built-in vignette in Affinty Photo for iPad with all of its limitations? In this video, I show you how you can easily create a fully-customizable vignette. You can also download the macro version of this vignette for free.
  5. Here is part two of my tutorial talking about processing RAW images inside the Develop Module of Affinity Photo for iPad. Enjoy!
  6. In this tutorial I talk about everything in the tool bar inside the Develop Persona.
  7. Please disregard. Upon further research, I found the answer to my question. It does not work on gradient overlays in the Develop Persona.
  8. Greetings, While in the Develop persona in AP, is this overlay eraser tool limited to the paint overlay? When I created a gradient overlay, it didn’t work on that.
  9. You cannot change the interface itself. The buttons, etc. stay at their default colors. That slider you are referring to changes the background canvas color. If you push it all the way to the right, you’ll see that your canvas is now white. Pushing it all the way to the left makes it black.
  10. Baffled by the High Pass filter? I explain how to use it for sharpening in this tutorial. Even though it’s made specifically for the iPad app, it’s also relevant for the desktop version.
  11. Hi everyone, I just published my latest tutorial on masking basics. Although it’s specific to the iPad version, the concept of masking is not program-specific. Enjoy
  12. Just posted a new tutorial covering layer basics in Affinity Photo for iPad. Enjoy.
  13. Ha ha, that was too easy. I was looking for a complex solution to a simple problem, apparently
  14. Thanks, I’m not sure how to create the link in my initial post so that it shows as a clickable image. I tried embedding the code but that’s not working.
  15. Hi all, this is my first tutorial for AP for the iPad. Some tips are already on the Web but they work a little differently on the iPad version. This is the first in a series of videos I plan to create.
  16. That makes perfect sense. Thank your for taking the time to explain it. I originally meant “Save a Copy”, not “Save as” but it’s irrelevant now.
  17. Very useful information. So, if I decided to save a file (not Save As) in the project screen, does this mean that the resulting version that appears in “On My iPad” is now the only version of this file, effectively moving it out of AP’s inaccessible sandbox?
  18. Wow, great call. I unloaded a couple of photo apps and nothing changed and then I deleted VSCO and, voila, I have access to the .CUBE files again. Thanks for that suggestion.
  19. I know this has been covered before but this seems to be a problem going back quite a long time and, from what I’ve read, it seems to be sporadic among users. I’m using the latest version of AP on my iPad Pro and I cannot import LUTs with a .cube extension. They are greyed out. It doesn’t matter where they reside, Dropbox, iCloud or on my ipad, they are grey in all of these locations. I saw in another post that someone had posted an FAQ with possible workarounds but that link doesn’t work anymore. The crazy thing is (now that I think of it), I was able to load a .cube LUT a couple of weeks ago when I was working on a portrait. That same LUT is now also greyed out when I try to import it. Are others having this problem and, if so, how are you getting around it? Also, if it is truly a problem, is there any fix in sight? Thank you...
  20. I’ve been using Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro for almost a year now and I think it crashed twice in all that time. For me at least, it has been a solid app.
  21. Hello, I made some changes using the channel mixer and then saved it as a preset. I can’t seem to find a way of loading that preset when I use the channel mixer again. I mean, there’s no button that allows me to load the preset so it’s essentially MIA. Any ideas? Thanks, Steven
  22. Apologies if this has been asked before. I could not find a definitive answer using search here. Is it possible to create a custom export preset? I find myself exporting a specific size along the long edge all the time but can’t figure out how to save that as a custom preset. Thank you, Steven
  23. Yeah, I do that too. It’s when I have to invert the mask for whatever reason after the fact...it would be nice to have a cmd/I keyboard shortcut like on the desktop.
