  1. It is much better. The file that was so slow to open before opens reasonably soon and then as I went to different pages some took a few seconds to finish filling in. Thanks, Beverly
  2. I just updated my Affinity Apps to the 1.9 from the previous version. I did not use the Apple App store. I opened a 21.7 MB document that I had just finished in the previous version of Affinity Publisher and I thought it was never going to open at all. It took 11 minutes for the file to open. I did not have this problem with the previous version of Publisher. I too would like to know if this is a bug in the update. I have a 17 inch Macbook Pro with OS El Capitan with 8GB of memory.
  3. I just updated my Affinity Apps to the 1.9 from the previous version. I opened a 21.7 MB document that I had just finished in the previous version of Affinity Publisher and I thought it was never going to open at all. It took 11 minutes for the file to open. I did not have this problem with the previous version. I am very dismayed at this. I have tried opening some other much smaller documents and they were also noticeably slower than previously. I have a 17 inch Macbook Pro with OS El Capitan with 8GB of memory. Is this a problem with the updated software or do I need to change something? Thank you for any help.
  4. The highlight button was set to blue, so I tried some other colors but no change. I have found that any window that opens in front of the Publisher New Document window causes the word Create to appear in the button. But when I click back on the New Document window it disappears again. That is very strange. At least it does work when I click on that spot. Thanks, Beverly
  5. Where do I go to change the highlight color. I'm still trying to learn the application and am excited to have ordered the new Publisher workbook. I did notice something strange. I had a new document window open when I opened the Preferences window to try to find what you referenced and the word Create appeared in the button. It disappears when I close the Preferences window. Thanks, Beverly
  6. I have updated my Affinity applications on my two computers to 1.8.6. On my Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.11.6 El Capitan I found that when I go to do a new document the blue Create button is missing beside the Cancel button just a faint outline shows. When I click where it is suppose to be it appears briefly before the new document opens. This happens with both Publisher and Designer. I haven't updated Photo on this computer yet because of this. It does not happen on my computer running OS Mojave. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks, Beverly
  7. I ended up just recreating the ad in Designer since its a pretty simple ad and then there was no problem with it in the pdf created of the map spread. Something else for people to look at if they have this problem I found by accident this morning since I'm one to keep digging when there is a problem to be solved. When stokrg asked for the publisher file I thought I would also send a cropped corner pdf with the ad from the large map spread. I had been previewing the map PDF in Acrobat Reader. I have Acrobat Professional on a older computer where I could do the cropping. When I opened the PDF map in it there was no darker bkg around the golfball image. So could it be a rendering issue with Acrobat Reader and it is the most current version?
  8. In the meantime since I have some time I recreated the SJ type with the pen tool in Designer which took care of the issue with it. In Affinity photo I did a clipping path for the golfball image as shown below for example, saved as tiff and placed it, but it made no difference along with placing the Affinity photo file itself. Neither resulted in no darker bkg around the image.
  9. I am new to Affinity. I have been working to start with moving files to a map spread in Affinity Designer that was created with Illustrator. The ad files that need to be added to the spread are from Publisher saved as PDFs. Though in the conversion process from Indesign I have had to find work arounds on some things such as fonts that work in Publisher but for some reason do not in Designer and for one ad I had to just place the publisher file to retain Tab information in Designer. In this case the SJ image and the golfball image were imported TIFF files, I have also tried them as PNG. The backgrounds are transparent in Affinity Photo. A PDF exported from Publisher of this ad looks fine with no darker bkg around those two images, but when I place it on the map spread in Designer as a PDF and create a PDF of the spread I get the darker background around those two images. I don't know what else to try. It would be nice to have a clipping option in Publisher. Thank you for any help.
  10. Yes deleting the existing text frames in my template and starting over drawing new ones to paste the text back into did fix the problem. The text flowed correctly, but there shouldn't be a problem. If the text in the first two text blocks are formatted it should flow correctly to any subsequent linked text box drawn. There was no resizing done and no 1.2 pt type in the text.
  11. I am new to Affinity Publisher and I am also having this issue. When I click on the triangle then drag out a new text block the overflow type does not keep the formatting it is TINY. I have watched the tutorials and cannot figure out what is happening. The context toolbar shows the type as being 1.2 pt for some reason. This is an Indesign document I am using to learn with converted with IDMarkz. I will post other questions separately as they arise. Is there any ETA on an Affinity Publisher Workbook? Thank you for any help.
  12. I am very excited about this new update to Publisher. I am looking to move from Indesign and this would allow me to open converted Indesign files. I would like to know if Publisher will keep the color profiles like Affinity Designer does for Illustrator files. I did not see that in the features list.
