MikeTO reacted to a post in a topic: Unable to communicate with my network printers in the Affinity Suite, v.2.5.7

I move back and forth between the Affinity suite and Pixelmator Pro 3.6.14 depending on their individual strengths. Today I can only print from Pixelmator Pro. The Affinity apps do not even launch the printer window. I click print and the FILE icon blinks but nothing happens. I re-established my wireless printer in my iMac, running Sequoia 15.2, and updated Affinity Publisher to 2.5.7 (I got a pop up window telling me there was an update). When I launched Publisher, Apple asked me if Pub can have permission to use external devices and I click YES. None of the Affinity apps launch the print panel. Any thoughts on why? All of my other apps with print options work as expected. Did an Apple MacOS tweak in 15.2 disrupt the process?

Old Bruce: I didn't know that the Publisher Suite Photo persona does NOT offer the extra personas! That's why it was no where to be found. Thanks for revealing that. I do hope Affinity plans to rectify that disconnect! Affinity products are surprisingly confusing. I still like them but having to hunt for functions is frustrating. Thanks for your help!

Affinity wizards: There are tools I am constantly looking for and use often; one is a precise and greater control WARP tool. The more complex options are only in Designer and seem limited to vector. Mesh/Warp laughs at me in Photo (well, maybe not literally) when I attempt to use its limited Mesh/Warp tool. I have a suggestion and it's backed by a diagrammatic image file. I want to lobby for a WARP tool that is as sophisticated as the one in Pixelmator Pro. The level of control and preciseness is amazing. It is the main reason I jump back and forth between Affinity Photo and Pixelmator Pro. Once you've used it everything else works like trying to move a 75 lb. block of concrete with bare hands. The second feature — something missing in both products — is redesigning your selections features. I want to have the option of creating a selection with a feathered edge, whether it is using the lasso tool or the square, circle, selection tools. I have not been able to find that option in either product. Feathered selections let you copy something and drop it back onto the image after making color, white balance, or sharpened, etc., adjustments to the patch. The feathered edge lets you to ease the adjusted item/patch back into the original image. That's a simplistic description of something that has lots of uses. Look over my attached image file for further examples of both requested features. Thanks for reading!

Adjustment categories load issues in Photo 1.9.1
ricktuma replied to ricktuma's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
MEB: That seems to have done the trick. Ironically, getting the combined dock and document window was going to be my next question to the gang. As a 25-year Adobe user until subscriptions became their business model, I was used to Adobe Suite maintaining window shapes until I changed them. I got off on the wrong foot with Affinity and didn't know where to look to regain that control. To add to your docked/undocked credibility, when I opened Affinity Photo as a stand-alone program to test the adjustments issue it was completely docked together, just the way I like it. I wondered how the heck this happened? But ... I didn't make the connection when adjustments panels worked perfectly. Thanks! Feeling better about my switch to Affinity, even though I run into other 'Where the heck have they hidden a function?' moments.- 3 replies

Since the 1.9.1 update, launching adjustment (Levels, White Balance, etc.) can require up to 40 clicks before the adjustment box launches. I have tried the rasterize and trim option in layers, constantly saving the document before trying to select an option, but nothing seems to solve this. I am using macOS Big Sur, v. 11.2.2 on an iMac.The issue was happening before Apple did an incremental OS update last week. Having to click up to 40 times per adjustment function has destroyed my productivity. I looked through Affinity preference categories to make sure I haven't changed anything but there aren't any direct options for layer adjustments. BTW, using the filters via the drop down menu also behaves wonky. Sometimes the selected change/adjustment is ignored and sometimes it works fine. I never had trouble using that filter adjustment portal previously. My usual working approach is to launch Affinity Publisher and then switch back-and-forth between the three personas. Before sending this bug report I tested the problem by launching my document directly with Affinity Photo, instead of within the Publisher suite method, and to my surprise adjustment panels launch either on the first click or second. Good work around but that negates the benefits of the connectivity within Publisher.
