  1. oh, that's correct, it doesn't happen with a new file. This is not coming from the brush since I can move from one opened file to another and get a different result. I have attached the file in case that helps. Thank you for your swift reply. unexpectedBehaviourBurnTool.afphoto
  2. I've just updated to the latest version available. The burn tool has the effect of a dodge.
  3. Spacing was set to 15 in my case. You're right if I insist a lot, it can get a bit darker. Maybe it's got to do with the maths handling the value multiplication and it's not a setting issue. Thanks for trying.
  4. Thanks for the suggestion but not really, it can result in unwanted smudges
  5. In affinity photo, I'm using the burn tool to cleanup a noisy background but I don't manage to get some pure blacks. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
  6. I am aware of the transform control, but is there a way of setting the size of a rectangle on creation? In photoshop you can double clic the tool in the tool bar, which prompt a creation window where you can enter the desired dimensions. If I'm only using the transform, I need to drag a rectangle at whatever size, then go over the transform panel to adjust its measurements, which is less efficient.
