oh, that's correct, it doesn't happen with a new file. This is not coming from the brush since I can move from one opened file to another and get a different result. I have attached the file in case that helps. Thank you for your swift reply. unexpectedBehaviourBurnTool.afphoto

I've just updated to the latest version available. The burn tool has the effect of a dodge.

Spacing was set to 15 in my case. You're right if I insist a lot, it can get a bit darker. Maybe it's got to do with the maths handling the value multiplication and it's not a setting issue. Thanks for trying.

In affinity photo, I'm using the burn tool to cleanup a noisy background but I don't manage to get some pure blacks. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I am aware of the transform control, but is there a way of setting the size of a rectangle on creation? In photoshop you can double clic the tool in the tool bar, which prompt a creation window where you can enter the desired dimensions. If I'm only using the transform, I need to drag a rectangle at whatever size, then go over the transform panel to adjust its measurements, which is less efficient.
