I just wanted to chime in and say I noticed/was frustrated but the same issue. Similarly, it occurred to me that they have this sort of "dead zone" around node points because if you were using your finger you don't have a lot of precision, so they want people to avoid mis-taps. Ideally what would be nice to have is a setting to toggle it manually on/off OR to have the device recognise if someone is using an Apple Pencil and allow for more accurate taps.
