  1. "Here I am, by myself, talking to myself..." (Dr Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park) - I think I've fixed it by disabling windows ink in PREFERENCES/TOOLS. I'mm so chuffed. Sorry for my moaning. Everything is selecting/double clicking again.
  2. I've tried various restarts (the latop, the wacom) changing settings for double click in wacom control centre and no change. Previously it was hit and miss - you had times when double click worked and times when it nudged. Now it's totally broken and you basically have to use the touch pad buttons. I miss the halcyon days of 1.7.3 when you could select things. They were simpler times...
  3. I tried to flag this up previously (after the last update) and it seemed nobody else was having these issues, but 1.8.2 has made the issue worse than ever. I've attached a video where I repeatedly try to double click with my Wacom Intuos tablet's pen. Previously this worked seamlessly, taking you into the node tool. Now it just nudges everything about. When I then start to use my laptop's touchpad and the physical buttons below (at the very end of the video) then it works as it should. Affinity Designer 2020-03-17 18-40-13.mp4 Anyone else having this problem? Anyone else using a Wacom tablet? Any suggested solutions?
  4. Sorry, I didn't expect the recording to not include the menus - I used the xbox game recorder included with Windows 10. Anyway, when you click on the SWATCHES tab you see recent colours. Below this there's a pull down menu and I go to DOCUMENT (having already created some global colours). I then double click on one of those global colours and you get a box allowing you to adjust the colour. This includes another pull down and I choose RGB HEX Colours and then there's the 3 bars and below that a space to type in the full RGB HEX value (it's just got a # next to it) and I type in my value and then, more often that not, the cursor magically vanishes. It seems to be more prone to do it if you take a few extra seconds to type the value. Hope that helps.
  5. Ok so here's an attempt at an upload but it's not showing the app's menus which doesn't help/ As you can see/guess I go to one of the global colours and type in a new RGB hex value. First time it works ok, next time the cursor subsequently disappears and can only be seen by holding CTRL. Sorry that's not much help but I hope you get the gist of the problem Affinity_Designer_2020-03-11_18-16-52.mp4
  6. Posted this the other day, but think it was in the wrong section... Just wanted to check if other people are experiencing any of the following difficulties - 1.) Boolean operations producing a crazy amount of nodes on the resulting shape, far more than in previous versions, even on quite simple shape additions, etc. 2) The cursor disappearing after you make adjustments to global colour values - e.g you've set up some global colours and double click on the document swatch, you adjust the RGB values and then, boom, your cursor has vanished and doesn't reappear until you restart. 3) Objects moving slightly when you try to double click on them to go straight into moving nodes with the node tool (I've mentioned this before, but it's so frequent I can't believe nobody else is having this issue) From what I can see on the forums, a lot of people are experiencing 1, so I'm far more concerned with 2 because I always try to use global colours and with 3 because it kind of defeats the whole point of working with vectors if the accuracy is so readily spoiled on each illustration.

  8. yeah I've checked that but thanks for your continued efforts. I've reset the Wacom settings too but no change so I'm now more inclined to think it's all on the AD side and not tablet-related. If anyone from the dev team is reading, are there any changes in the new update which would affect "clicking/moving sensitivity"? Mind you, I'm not experiencing half the issues that others are mentioning on here with 1.8 so maybe I should be thankful.😁
  9. This might be nonsense but I was wondering if it could have been because I started the illustration in 1.7 and then updated.... don't know why that would cause such an issue, but I was hoping once I started a new project the issue might sort itself ... alas no. I've followed Old Bruce's advice and fixed the pen settings to have a button be a double click, but there's definitely a subtle, yet fundamental problem here. It's like the program is desperate to move things about now and every other time you click anything it dances around (well, moves slightly, but it's not helpful). Have many changes been made to make things more sensitive somehow? I'm clutching at straws...
  10. Thanks for your thoughts Old Bruce - I altered the settings on my Wacom for the double tap, but having tested it I think the issue remains. Just hoping that other people come forward and it isn't just my problem! There seems to be another glitch where when I try to select an object with Ctrl Alt and Clicking (which is supposed to be a good way to cycle through specific objects that are hard to select and worked well back in 1.7) it starts duplicating them. It's making illustrating much more difficult at the moment as I'm constantly moving pieces out of their positions relative to each other and then finding there's half a dozen copies of items in the layer panel!
  11. I'm not 100% sure on this but I wonder if its related to the Wacom tablet as double clicking with the laptop seems ok (although I've not tested that as much because I always work with the pen). Would there be any settings that affect how AD decides whether you're trying to double tap the pen or single tapping in 2 different positions - I'm presuming that's what it thinks I'm doing when it nudges the object about rather than goes into the node tool. All I know is it wasn't an issue in 1.7 and I'm still using the same tablet etc.
  12. It might be just me, but since the update AD seems to behave quite differently with regards to selection. I'm using the Wacom Intuos and Windows 10 and when I try to double click (double tap the pen) to select objects and go straight into editing nodes it seems very prone to nudging the objects around slightly and not actually selecting them. It's intermittent and sometimes behaves just the same as in previous versions, but when it's "playing up", it really is almost unworkable. Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue and is it something that the developers are aware of? I don't like to grumble because I'm such a satisfied AD user on the whole.
  13. Hi folks, I'm trying to use Affinity Designer's vector brush creation ability and following Paolo Limoncelli's excellent tutorial (on Affinity Spotlight). I have AD on desktop so perhaps that's part of the issue (his tutorial is for iPad). He says when you export your brushes you export each slice as PNG 24, but I don't get that as an option ( I just see PNG or PNG 8 dithered). Do I opt for one of these or should I be seeing PNG-24. I had a look for previous discussions and someone mentioned not ticking the transparent background box in your document setup, but whether ticked or not the export options are as above. I completed his tutorial using PNG (as opposed to 8-dithered) and it seemed to work fine so maybe PNG is PNG-24 or maybe I've missed something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Simon
  14. I've got it back now. I copied everything from the new download folder from Adobe into the Affinity folder and it seems to have worked. Thanks for your help.
