I've been working with a set of graphics that are in color. I'm moving them from individual files, into an artboard, and filling them with white, while making all lines visible and black.

As you can see with the finished artboards in the attached screencap video, this has  been working fine until now.

Now all of a sudden it's decided it's going to fill some nonexistent shape every time I try to fill the layers of the graphic. I've double-checked that there's no object there, nothing outside the graphic is selected before starting, but it's like it's creating a giant rectangle to fill as soon as I select the fill color.

I've been trying to figure this out for over an hour and I'm getting nowhere. Please help!

Seems like there was one layer, a pixel layer, that was causing it on both of the color drawings seen in that video. Had to go through doing one layer at a time to figure that out, but it still doesn't make much sense. On the others, whenever there was a pixel layer, the fill function just ignored it.
